Wright

Reverend Jeremiah Wright raised eyebrows yet again when he said he was no longer able to speak to President Obama because "them Jews aren't going to let him talk to me." On Sirius Radio's "Make it Plain with Mark Thompson" Thursday, he clarified.

"Let me just say, like Hillary, I misspoke. Let me just say Zionists," Wright said, before going on to delineate the difference between them and "responsible Jewish persons." He went on to discuss the Israeli government and the power of the Zionist lobby in the U.S. government, saying he was basing his words on the work of Jewish historian Marc Ellis.

I still can't get passed that the Obama family attending his church for over 20 years. Scary thought.

tens of thousands of people attended his church in Chicago. Even Oprah. I don't think he spewed this kind of nonsense back then. Before anyone mentions the 10-15 second clips that ran over and over from the campaign trail, I urge you to watch the full context of those sermons.

Rev. Wright is like an old Bill Maher segment he used to do about John McCain during the elections. "Oh, Grandpa..." He's been high strung since the 60s and he's never come back down to earth. Although he tells a lot of truths, he never knows when to bring it down a notch. He's "1960s" angry and its off putting to a lot of people, even some young black folks I've talked to. I just look at people like him and say "Yes, yes you're right" because they will never stop talking if you challenge them as you can see. Now we have a follow up from Rev. Wright. Thanks a lot, ya'll.

I'm not saying that there aren't race issues anymore because I am mad, too. But, there are other people of other races who are mad and on my side. I don't feel so desperately angry as Rev Wright. That's the difference between old school activists and younger ones that were born after the 60s, I think.

I respect him and he's a very accomplished man but as soon as black leaders start going on about any kind of Jews, I shut them out. Its one thing to have misdirected anger at random white people but what did the Jews ever do? I haven't paid attention to Jessie Jackson since I was 11 for that remark he made about NY Jews. I am really annoyed that people think he's our "leader".

"I am really annoyed that people think he's our "leader"."

He was appointed to that position by the white media. He gave them what they wanted to hear.

You are likely the only one that thinks that he is our 'leader". The only one. Free yourself of that and whatever other inanities you burden yourself with and you can move on. As for you not paying attention to Rev. Jackson, that is really your loss. And if you ignored him because he made a remark that one might hear commonly around the southern states of the US at the time (now, as well) then the loss is really yours and for all the wrong reasons.

The other thing you miss is that the 'old school activists' did all the work so you could practice this odd form of sophistry you are so proud of. They were the ones who took to the streets, who bore the beatings and never wavered in their commitment so that their heirs could indulge your "freedom".
Clearly, they fooled you at age 11 and you have yet to recover. You should hear the things they say about you when you leave the room.

Rev. Wright has turned into the gift that keeps on giving to all the folks he railed against for 30 years.

A very sad ending for a brilliant man who has been humbled by circumstance and God.

Hmm, Obama throwing Wright under the bus again? Another funny world of Obama moment.

This person has every right to whatever wackadoodle opinions he has come to have. I hate it that every time he opens his mouth, however, he seems to cause trouble for Obama. For a man who claims to love Obama, he doesn't do a very good job of supporting him.

Try shutting up, fool.

OK seriously, at this point, Rev. Wright should know better. At this rate, Obama should never speak to him again...he's a little selfish IMO.

If Wright was a Republican they'd give him a talk show and honorary position in the party.

Mr. Wright said that the Jews won't allow Obama to talk to him. Isn't he correct? Is this such an outrageous concept? Are there any Jews who would encourage Obama to talk to Jeremiah Wright? I think we should stop listening to 24 hour news media and start thinking for ourselves.

At least Obama did repudiate him. Republicans can't bring themselves to repudiate Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly, Savage, et al, even after seeing these folks' words embodied by recent right-wing-extremist violence.

Portrait of a man whose time is come and gone. He is showing himself to be the pathetic loser he was already becoming during the campaign.
