Last night, Jon Stewart reiterated his position on MSNBC's Starbucks-flacking group therapy session known as Morning Joe by remarking, "I like my news like I like my coffee, watered down and stupid." Whoa! Now, that just sounds like the ravings of an angry man! An angry, very short man! Maybe with a Napoleonic complex?

In case you have missed out on this whole saga, Stewart drew the ire of Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough after he criticized the show's sponsorship arrangement with Starbucks Coffee. Scarborough insisted that when he and his cohorts took to the airwaves to fondle and fawn all over the Starbucks brand, it was intended as a sarcastic joke, something that SURELY either Stewart or one of his ninety writers could have discerned. So, The Daily Show made fun of that, too. Then, for some reason, Scarborough responded by calling Stewart an "angry man" with a "Napoleonic complex."

Which brings us to last night, when The Daily Show took Scarborough's admonishments and ran with them anew. This time, a stung and weepy Stewart, smeared with runny mascara, retreated into the bowels of his studio, donned a Napoleon costume, and mounted a horse to retreat in old-timey French emo-sadness. That's when John Oliver, playing tiny Duke of Wellington, taught Stewart to embrace his anger. "Get back in there, and you rage, man. You rage!"

Stewart, citing the cost of obtaining a pony for the bit, said, "I sure hope this feud doesn't continue, I don't think this show can afford it." Well, the good news is that the Morning Joe crew is not going to have any idea how to respond to that whole bit with the horse and the costumes. The bad news is they're likely to hone in on Stewart's throwaway joke, "His show isn't brewed by Starbucks, it's brewed by Massengill!"

Joe and many others like him don't seem to get it that you can't insult a good comic. A really good comic has gone through years of doing comedy clubs and getting nothing BUT insults from drunken idiots and not only surviving but learning many effective responses.

80% of surviving comedy is dealing with insecurity.

Joe is just another drunken (with Starbucks perhaps) idiot trying to impress his blond date.

I like Jon S. I think his show is entertaining and informative. I also like that although prodominently liberal Jon is willing to call it as he sees it even if it is a misdoing committed a Dem. To call him an angry man just makes no sense, neither does accusing him of suffering from a napoleonic complex. Those comments stem from anger and a lack of creativity. I think Jon handled it well. Why? because he is simply not an angry man.

The thing that impressed me most was that Jon knew how to mount a horse and did it with no problem. I was thinking how that compared with our former chief executive who would wet his pants at the thought of being near a horse. Remember when early on Bush was invited by Vicente Fox to go for a ride around his ranch and chickened out?

Although he did it from the wrong side.

Think camera position requiring it to be so.

I noticed that, too, but agree that it was the camera that dictated the side. I was impressed with his ability to mount the horse. Most would not know how to go about it...

But the horse?

Jon should show pass clips of Morning Joe show. You will witness the new ANGRY face of republican party that is Joe. Please show clips of Joe yelling and demeaning Milka, Meddow, and other guests. Joe set himself to be the angry new clown of the republican party.

I'm with Jon Stewart on this 100% but this wasn't that funny . Infact I didn't laugh once. Jon Stewart IS angry, but he SHOULD be. With all of the bullshit going on in the world why aren't more of us angry? John Stewart doesn't have a Napoleonic complex, he's just one of very few rational people in this messed up world.

I love Jon Stewart for his BITING political/social sarcasm that embodies how I feel about things. He's not so good at the slapstick stuff. Colbert is better at that. But at the end of the day, Stewart usually has more to say

Have to agree. Stewart could've really ripped Joe, but he didn't. Too bad. Not funny.

Joe could not hang on to the audience Olberman brough in for MSNBC in the evening, so they moved him into the morning slot, where his show is doing poorly against the competition. MSNBC should have gotten rid of him at the same time they dumped Tucker.

The show is really Morning Joke.

Jon Stewart has bested that twit, Joe Scarbrous. Good on him.

If Jon wants anew issue to "discuss" why doesn't he ask the question why morning Joe is now an ongoing infomercial for Scarborgh's new book..

A funny intersection between my favorite morning political show and Jon Stewart. Hope the "feud" continues for a while.

I didn't think the horse bit was that funny. But I loved it when he put up all those logos - Maxwell House, Tasters Choice, etc. - around his desk.

perhaps what was missing from the whole napoleonic bit was that there was no morning josephine. (you know, behind every great man, there's a woman.) that wouldn't be mika, the roll-over doll who wouldn't even side with her dad when he called out scarborough for his ignorance regarding mideast affairs.

Mikka must be an embarrasment for her father.
