Why would someone be surprised that land that hasn't been "discovered" by man is in pristine condition. That is usually how it works.

Unfortunately that is probably true, American companies lining up to cut it down to produce one-time-use tissues and toilet paper. Yah!!!!

Let me get this straight. The people who live there/in the forest did not know it existed? Please! Replace the word 'discovered' with another word. It seems nothing exists until some westerner 'discovers' it.

Very British. Now they will get billions of dollars in materials from the rainforest sell it to US and China and give 000.000.000.0000.000" dollars to people of Mozambique. We saw that happen before. I wonder if Mozambique finds some resources in UK what would the Britain do?

If anyone should be kept from this place, it is African settlers themselves: They will fell all the trees, burn it over, poach all the wildlife, and then multiply in explosive numbers until the eco-system collapses.....

Africa needs one specific social policy: Paid Sterilization!

For whose benefit will these Africans destroy the forest for? As usual it will be for (a) Some greedy capitalist corporation, and (b) local greedy African 'bosses' that collude with these corporations, and are happy to exploit their own people and resources.

Consider all the deforestation that takes place just so that fields can be made available for cows to graze on. All this extra cattle just so that Americans can have Supersize burgers and end up with the most obese nation on earth.

Gold, diamonds (blood diamonds), oil, mineral resources. It's always the same story.

It's funny how 20% of the world (North America and Europe) want 80% of its resources, but expects the other 80% of the world to just live on 20% of the world's resources.

Don't knock African population too much, it gave Europe and America the transatlantic slave trade which helped fuel Europe and America's industrial revolutions, as well as provide trillions of dollars worth of free labour over a few hundred years.

Perhaps it's the European and American people that need sterilising? Since it's them that consume more resources, and cause most global warming, more than anyone else on earth. What do you reckon ZPG fan?

The problem isn't with population growth. The problem is many African nations inability to manage, wisely and fairly, their own natural resources and the resulting wealth. It's a problem which Europe and America have only been too happy to exploit for many decades.

Go forth and multiply!

This area is about 27 square miles. Africa measures 11.35 billion square miles. Although an exciting find, it is also depressing that such a sliver of remaining paradise IS exciting to find.

Great advertising ! Now everyone around the world will flock to this pristine undiscovered area and leave trash and litter behind them not to mention removing whatever they can take - no longer pristine !

Is it true....that there are yellow monsters that swallow people whole, and creatures that take turns locking each other out of their offices?
