Woody And Larry

Woody Allen is back in New York to promote his new film, "Whatever Works" with fellow Brooklyn native Larry David, the movie's misanthropic hero. Allen's wife, Soon-Yi Previn, and co-stars Patricia Clarkson and Evan Rachel Wood attended a screening and afterparty Wednesday night.

Even David could hardly get the stone-faced director to crack a smile, but Allen looked slightly less miserable than he did at the movie's Tribeca Film Festival screening.

"Whatever Works" opens June 19.

I would go to a Woody Allen movie even if 99 out of 100 called it a bomb. He is a fantastic piece of work.

June 19th Whatever Works comes to the local picture palace. The drought is over. Hope I live long enough to see it.

All the twitching and blinking must have been difficult for the photographers. ;-)

Woody Allen is a great example of the "never meet your hero" rule. Try to separate the failings of a mortal man from his body of work.

I couldn't bear to watch it when it came out, years ago. I found it agonizing.

I guess I've been desensitized. I am watching old episodes on demand and I cannot stop cracking up. I appreciate the humor, now.

Woody Allen is never smiling in any of the photographs I see him in. He is always looking so grim. I think Allen gets up every single day fearing death. He always had this dark obsession with death, even when he was in his 30's and 40's. I can relate to it though. How can you get up and put on a happy face when you know eventually, you won't exist for eternity.

I used to really like Woody Allen (way back). However, why is it "genius" to be making every damned new movie about a young woman involved with an older man? Pretty standard and cliche by Hollywood standards. Yes, his movies were good. But self- centered angst, fear of death, obsession with sex, run-on 'witty' dialogue gets old too.

Vicky Christina Barcelona, Cassandra's Dream, Scoop, Match Point, Melinda and Melinda, Anything Else, Sweet and Lowdown ...

7 films made in the last 10 years that have absolutely nothing to do with anything you just mentioned, but ok, sure.

Scoop and Match Point were some of his best films ever.

Surprisingly, Woody Allen is underrated as an American filmmaker. If you review his body of work, Allen is the foremost, originally creative screenwriter and director of our time. My favorites are "Annie Hall", "The Purple Rose of Cairo", "Bullets Over Broadway", "Another Woman" and "Deconstructing Harry". And, those are the ones that just handily come to mind. Really, Allen is up there with Altman and Scorese.

He is way under-rated and really works the narrative aspects of film, rather than blasting out hollywood scenes in formulaic order.

Woody has the same problem as Clint Eastwood -- they make it look too easy.

At the risk of stating the obvious, Larry David is a genius. Never was a fan of Woody Allen though.

If you're not a fan of Woody you haven't really tried. He's prolific and not all of it works, but when it does it's way more genius than Larry David.

He biggest star was Joan Collins, so I joined. It was fun, because my best friend who owned a clinique in the spanish community said, I was Marilyn Monroe,. and will go through the same dejvue this time around. He said she had three chin jobs and two nose jobs. I have one more to test his theory.////.

Woody needs eye surgery from a plastgic surgeon in Florida. They are the best in Florida. They will lazer those puffy eyes. He is too lazy to care, and he'll live an extra 10 years if he trusts the Florida doctors. I think it's time for him to have a southern home in Ft. Lauderdale for his retirement....Just deep thoughts.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Not only does Woody not need cosmetic surgery, he's not the type to alter looks for the sake vanity.

Come to think of it, none of us really needs cosmetic surgery.
