Bush Gives Shout-Out To Troops On "Colbert"; Mocks Stephen For Press Corps Dinner Performance (VIDEO)

I Like ItI Don’t Like It
George W Bush

Colbert broadcast his final show from Iraq last night and in it George W. Bush gave a "shout-out" to the troops, saying:

"Laura and I send our greetings to our servicemen and women. Your achievements in Iraq have earned you a special place in American history. You are men and women of great courage and endurance and that's gonna come in handy: I've sat through Stephen's stuff before."

His final quip is an obvious reference to the 2006 White House Correspondents' Dinner in which Colbert took searing shots at Bush over his handling of Katrina, the war in Iraq and his energy policy. He also mocked the president's approval rating saying:

"Now, I know there are some polls out there saying this man has a 32 percent approval rating. But guys like us, we don't pay attention to the polls. We know that polls are just a collection of statistics that reflect what people are thinking in 'reality'. And reality has a well-known liberal bias."

All week long, Colbert has broadcast politicians' messages to the troops. Senator Jim Webb, President Clinton, President George W. Bush, President Obama, Laura Bush, Vice President Biden, among others sent their best wishes and varyingly successful attempts at humor to the servicemen and women in Iraq.

This is the guy that put them into harms way for all the wrong reasons and now we want to turn it into a joke. It's no joke to be killed or have ur arms and legs blown off. He shud be up on war crimes charges not up on screen on a comedy show.

He's the jerk who put them there.

I wonder if that viewing screen was flogged after that segment.

So appropriate that in our short attention span society that a CRIMINAL like George W Bush has so quickly become a lovable old codger. He's got such an "aw shucks" thing going on right now and he's getting away with it in the media. I guess he always did but come on......is there anyone who wants to hold this guy accountable anymore?

This man ran this country into the ground with the very strong belief that he was some kind of instrument of God. That, to me, is unforgivable. I can't help it....nothing he does is funny to me.

The shout outs were taped weeks ago as we know from Sarah Palin blowing the surprise and the security after she did hers. Steven knew what was on the tape and he can handle stuff like that. Steven Colbert is a lot more popular than W. BTW on Sarah ruining the security and build up. Did you notice that all the other shout outs were either Presidents of the United States or the Vice President or John McCain who ran for President? Sarah was the only semi nobody who got the offer. She's also the one who got very little audience response. Everybody knows that she tried to use ruining the secrecy to get news coverage for herself. As Colbert said at the time, "Can Sarah Palin see where I'm going from Canada?"

Colbert is a gentleman. He knows that Palin has a son in Iraq. Political party aside, what man wouldn't allow a mother to send special regards to her son.

Really classy guy.

I'll give him this... at least his delivery wasn't as wooden as Palin's. Looking at her blank expression you wouldn't believe she was talking about her own son in Iraq.

I thought it was awesome, Colbert in Iraq. The USO has done an amazing thing. Colbert did an amazing thing getting those tapes from McCain, Obama, and, yes. . . Even Bush. Kudos to him! He also stayed true and didn't sell out. Loved the gays in the military jokes too! Well Done Stephen!

Whatever Iraq eventually becomes, and I doubt it will ever be a shining beacon of democracy, and even though former ambassador Crocker, says history won;t care why we wen there, it will judge on what we leave behind, it does not undo the lies, disinformation, manufactured reasons and all the other profound mistakes this president and his administration did to start this war. I can imagine no greater disservice to the U.S. military than a Commander in Chief and his staff using them to pursue a misguided policy and then mismanaging their efforts so completely. They blundered into this war, they mismanaged it, they wound up destroying a whole country, angering the world, causing the ranks of jihadist to grow dramatically all over the world, for what? We have been turned into torturers. Fear mongers. A nation whose military budget exceeds the combined military budgets of Russia, China, and the next five largest militaries by hundreds of billions of dollars. Add to all this mayhem, failure and expense the destruction of our economy and standing in the world and the Bush/Cheney legacy will be studied for it's audacious failure.

I am from Texas and as a Tex-Dem, I saw this dufus almost destroy the state as Governor. Most Texas liberals was sorta glad to see him run Nationally in 2000. We said" At least now the whole world will see how goofy he is and we will be rid of him. Alas! he was replaced here by Rick Perry.

You mean the same Texas that elected him twice as governor, whose Hispanics voted for him in huge numbers, and a legislature that he got along with very well! And even after Bush's term, another Republican governor was elected.

As the rest of this blog goes, so go YOU with your brand of Texas BS.

While I don't think Bush was a great president, he's not "F-ing up" the country as bad as the clown in the White House at the moment.

He was even voted 49th out of 100 Hottest Hollywood stars and sport heroes....that's in between George Clooney and 50 Cents Hip Hoppers....what more can America ask for in a president???

I am sure Obama's address to the troops had him apologizing for something or other in America's past.
