I Like ItI Don’t Like It

During a discussion of David Letterman's joke about Sarah Palin on "Hannity" on Thursday night, conservative columnist S.E. Cupp blamed Obama.

Cupp and Sean Hannity didn't accept Letterman's explanation of his joke, in which he regretted the comments, and slammed the lack of outrage in the mainstream media about the jokes in which Letterman referred to Palin's "slutty-flight-attendant look" and quipped that her daughter got "knocked up by [NY Yankee] Alex Rodriguez"

Cupp, who is a contributor to the Washington Post and Politico, fumed:

"This is the enduring legacy of the Obama campaign. I'm not saying this to be inflammatory, I blame Barack Obama because he allowed his surrogates in the media and Hollywood and everyone else on the left to do this dirty talking for him."

Cupp called on Obama to condemn the comments.

Hannity agreed with Cupp, adding "It's like a Sista Souljah moment," referring to the infamous scandal in which then-candidate Bill Clinton repudiated the rapper's comments, outraging free-speech advocates but helping him win the votes of conservative Democrats.

Watch the exchange:

Looks like somebody's got her claws out. I think it's just a ploy for personal attention. "Nobody knows who I am, so I'll just slander the President of the United States of America."

I wonder what the legions of rightwing pundits would do if they had to earn their money doing something constructive. Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Coulter, Ingraham, Savage, et. al. , would be hard put to say or do anything that helped the commonweal.
They would have to do what they are incapable of: think logically, speak without hate or lies and not take vicarious, perverse enjoyment in the incitement of the unstable.

I doubt they do much good for the commonwealth either

Another intelligent columnist supporting the rebuilding of the Republican Party and the Conservative cause. I truly do not believe that all Republicans feel this way and do hope that the moderates in the party will be able to build a new party that is absent of such insanity.

The only blame that falls on Obama is the pain of losing power and being exposed for the simpletons that you are!

Wake up, girls, this woman is dangerous. That's why she's out there, just like Cheney. But bringing Obama stands up for free speech, however I don't ever see him incite violence like your right-wing friends.

To answer Sean's question: No, he would not say that about the prez's girls or Michelle because Sarah Palin is the one who came across as the slutty flight attendant. This retoric, as you call it, is reality. I was embarrassed for her every time she spoke during the campaign, especially with Katie Couric. And the hypocrisy of the "abstinence only," when we were about to hear her 17-year-old daughter was pregnant, she put herself out there for the comedians. Bush did it too, when he did ignorant and criminal things like start a war by lying, the spending on that, turning most of the world against us, allowing the upper 1% to get so greedy while the economy collapsed, ignoring the Constitution when convenient, at the expense of the American people. Thanks to the smart Americans who kept her out.

David's apology was fine about the daughter -- of course he was talking about the one who got knocked up or pregnant, to be more polite. Then they gave her a car to get rid of the father.
The 14-year-old got involved when her mother pushed her in. Letterman was talking about the abstinent daughter, the one enjoying celebrity around the country. Yeah, all-American patriots.

And if Obama would have stepped in and say something
about it, they would problably accuse on trying to control
the media and he's the same as that crazy korean dude etc....

I people want to blame anything blame mankind for corruption, lies, the hunger for power/greed/control.

The world is owned by greed and money now, everyone is suffering because of the greed of power and the corruption of mankind. This repeats itself throughout almost every society throughout history. It all eventually trickles down from the top. This all comes from hate between man and ignorance. People do not realize we truly have a world economy and a world society now, people all around the world are suffering. Do people even realize the earth is a living organism that provides us life as well? It seems to be too late to turn it around but, this is my gift to the world before we meet what we have all been headed towards as one people on one earth. http://www.changesjlb.com

It is kind of Obama's fault in that Letterman would not dared say that had Palin and McCain not had their arses whooped by Obama. That would be a gitmo-bound kind of offense.

Didn't Obama explicitly tell his staff during the campaign to lay off attacking the children of the opposing candidates? So how can Hannety say that what Lettermen said was at Obama's behest?

Yeah right-Hannety would have objected if Lettermen made a crack about Obama's kids. Give me a break!

She brought her knocked up older daughter with the fiancee in tow on the campaign trail.
Two weeks ago Bristol Palin was in her Grad gown holding the baby on the front of a magazine .
You would have to be hiding under a rock if you did not think this joke was about her older daughter.

You cannot have it both ways expose her then scream unfair if a comedian says something.

Cupp said, "I want leadership"---Ma'am, your leader is sitting next to you in the form of Hannity & across the hall in the scary form of O'Reilly and sitting on his tukas behind a microphone in the form of Limbaugh. These clowns speak your heart, stick with them.
If some sort of righty-whitey ditz can blame Obama for anything Letterman says, then you can blame him for the Holocaust Museum shooting, the Tiller murder, the sour milk in your refrigerator, or the dust bunnies under your bed. Try critical thinking..... or maybe just try thinking.

Wow! Desperate. "The enduring legacy of the Obama campaign" ?? What? Is she serious? Of course not. Her next statement: "I'm not saying this to be inflammatory" = I am now being inflammatory. These ridiculous assertions are so so old. The President is responsible for what comes out of David Letterman's mouth? Right. How quickly the right-wing nuts forget the ugliness they heaped upon Chelsea Clinton! Rush Limbaugh: "Did you know there's a White House dog?" Then he put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, who was 13 years old at the time. Double standards? Give me a break...

If the right wants to play the game of 'blame the candidate for our current issues', I think they should acknowledge the stronger link between the McCain/Palin incendiary rallies and the politically-motivated violence of the last few weeks (the killing of the abortion doctor; the anti-semetic, anti-black, white supremacist at the holocaust museum). As though they hadn't done enough damage to their party already, the conservative talk show nutjobs keep fueling the anger of their base--including the more extreme elements. Kudos to Shepard Smith and a few other on the right who are sounding the alarm about this. The rest of them are just filling the grave of what once was a legitimate political party.
