Conservative Columnist Blames Obama For Letterman's Palin Joke

During a discussion of David Letterman's joke about Sarah Palin on "Hannity" on Thursday night, conservative columnist S.E. Cupp blamed Obama.

Cupp and Sean Hannity didn't accept Letterman's explanation of his joke, in which he regretted the comments, and slammed the lack of outrage in the mainstream media about the jokes in which Letterman referred to Palin's "slutty-flight-attendant look" and quipped that her daughter got "knocked up by [NY Yankee] Alex Rodriguez"

Cupp, who is a contributor to the Washington Post and Politico, fumed:

"This is the enduring legacy of the Obama campaign. I'm not saying this to be inflammatory, I blame Barack Obama because he allowed his surrogates in the media and Hollywood and everyone else on the left to do this dirty talking for him."

Cupp called on Obama to condemn the comments.

Hannity agreed with Cupp, adding "It's like a Sista Souljah moment," referring to the infamous scandal in which then-candidate Bill Clinton repudiated the rapper's comments, outraging free-speech advocates but helping him win the votes of conservative Democrats.

So first of all, Obama has to bail the country out of the huge financial mess that Bush/Cheney left it in, and now he has to police the television airwaves to make sure that every joke is above board and not in bad taste?

Quick, let's get Obama onto Air Force One and fly him back immediately from the Middle East so that he can rap Lettermna on the knuckles because he made a joke about Palin's unwedded poster child for abstinence.

By the way, did anyone else pick up on Sarah palin describing Bristol as a girl who is off studying at college? Did she mean that Bristol was in her bedroom doing her online classes? When did Bristol become a college student? Now that would be front page news, a Palin going to college. Let's hope that shes doesnt needa as many schools as her Mother did to get a degree in journalism.

The right really seems to think that because the left criticized B'ush for so many things, i.e. stealing an election (twice), letting 9/11 happen despite warnings, unnecessary war in iraq, lying to create atmosphere for said war(s), vacationing so much, vacationing while NO flooded, failing to rebuild NO, etc...etc.­..etc... that they have the right to call O_bama out on everything because after all the criticism of B43 was SO unwarranted, they must by duty do the same thing to O. Huh?! What on earth is she talking about? I think David Letterman would be very surprised and insulted to find that he is being called "Obama's surrogate in the media". He's a comedian! Cupp and Hannity have major, personal issues - it's so ignorant to believe that President Obama is responsible for this incident.

Sarah Palin is the one who is extremely naive and downright rude. She has some nerve to criticize David Letterman for his remarks (albeit that is was not in good taste) - yet all the while, during the campaign, she bad-mouthed President Barack Obama, instilling nothing but hate and fear, along with others taking part - as McCain and Republicans. They are filled with hate and resentment. Palin, to this day, continues to talk about President Obama in negative tones. Of course, in her mind, she was, at the time during the campaign, and now, exercising her right to "free speech" - well, then so does David Letterman have the right to "free speech". I don't believe for one moment that what she said about President Barack Obama then, and now, is "cool", nor "funny". She's downright shameful. I want her to apologize to President Barack Obama first and foremost. Of course, two wrongs don't make a right, but how ignorant for anyone to think that they have the only right to speak negatively, and no one else can. If Sarah Palin is supposedly so religious, then she should know the saying: "do unto others, as you would have them do unto you" - guess not, thus Karma is getting her a bit - what goes around, comes around!

I use to listen to what the R's had to say so I could make intelligent decisions about elections and issues....­but I must say until they get some intelligent representation ...I am not listening to anything they say.
