MSNBC.com:

Given some Caribbean islands' reputation for violent crime and the high-profile Natalee Holloway case in Aruba, it may seem counterintuitive to include the Dutch ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) on a list of the world's safest places to travel.

YAWN ! I'd MUCH rather be in themountains & rainforest of St. Lucia or on the beaches in the Grendadines. ABC are pretty boring compared to other islands in the Caribbean. They're flat, dry, Aruba is really windy so unless you windsurf .... and the East Coast of Barbados is better surfing & windsurfing anyway, and the Bajans are very cool. ah, the West Indies !

Bermuda for me if it is an Island. I love Bermuda and they just took four of those poor Chinese Gitmo prisoners. What heaven for them to be there. Good for Bermuda!

Did they factor in race? I was stunned to learn that Italy is very anti-black.

They are anti-immigrant as well. Just because Europe is left wing on a lot of fiscal and social issues doesn't mean they are tolerant. They are very tribal.

Now that because of the presidential elections in Iran, you are reading a lot of posts on that country, you know a bit about it (although mostly very anti-iran), still, I would suggest that Iran is one of the world's safest places to visit. Iran of course is one of the most ancient civiliztions and has highest level of culture and historical places to see. Vist iran and find out for yourself. Iranians are among the most hospitable people on earth, have delicious food, beautiful natural scenery and of course fantastic historical sites.

As long as you are not a woman

That's completely false, Iran is no less hospitable towards women visitors. Where are you getting your information from, poor experiences traveling in Iran or from the Western media? Iran is not some demonic country dedicated to completely oppressing all women in every way - even foreign visitors. If you knew a great deal about the country you would certainly know that is not the case at all. All they ask is that foreign women visiting the country are courteous enough to cover their hair, even though many young Iranian women in Tehran barely even accomplish that. So where is this statement coming from, I wonder?

Cows?

I think it's spot on:

Bu-col-ic [byoo-kol-ik]

- adjective

1. of or pertaining to shepherds. Pastoral.
2. of, pertaining to or suggesting an idyllic rural life.
