They have managed to alienate those who should be their allies.

I agree that the "infidels" ie westerners should be out of Afghanistan. And I think that the way to accomplish that task is through negotiations with elements of what we call the Taliban. With all stakeholders.

I would say almost anything should be on the table.

EXCEPT: Al Qaida and in particular the criminals bin Ladin and Zawahiri.

Give them up and begin the talks.
