PHOENIX — Two of three people arrested in a southern Arizona home invasion that left a little girl and her father dead had connections to a Washington state anti-illegal immigration group that conducts border watch activities in Arizona.

Jason Eugene Bush, 34, Shawna Forde, 41, and Albert Robert Gaxiola, 42, have been charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and other charges, said Sheriff Clarence Dupnik of Pima County, Ariz.

The trio are alleged to have dressed as law enforcement officers and forced their way into a home about 10 miles north of the Mexican border in rural Arivaca on May 30, wounding a woman and fatally shooting her husband and their 9-year-old daughter. Their motive was financial, Dupnik said.

"The husband who was murdered has a history of being involved in narcotics and there was an anticipation that there would be a considerable amount of cash at this location as well as the possibility of drugs," Dupnik said.

Forde is the leader of Minutemen American Defense, a small border watch group, and Bush goes by the nickname "Gunny" and is its operations director, according to the group's Web site. She is from Everett, Wash., has recently been living in Arizona and was once associated with the better known and larger Minuteman Civil Defense Corps.

A statement attributed to officers of Forde's group and posted on its Web site on Saturday extended condolences to the victims' families and said the group doesn't condone such acts and will cooperate with law enforcement.

"This is not what Minutemen do," said member Chuck Stonex, who responded to an e-mail from The Associated Press sent through the Web site. "Minutemen observe, document and report. This is nothing more than a cold-hearted criminal act, and that is all we want to say."

The assailants planned to leave no one alive, Dupnik said at a press conference in Tucson on Friday. He said Forde was the ringleader.

"This was a planned home invasion where the plan was to kill all the people inside this trailer so there would be no witnesses," Dupnik said. "To just kill a 9-year-old girl because she might be a potential witness to me is just one of the most despicable acts that I have heard of."

Dupnik said Forde continued working through Friday to raise a large amount of money to make her anti-illegal immigrant operation more sophisticated.

Forde denied involvement as she was led from sheriff's headquarters.

"No, I did not do it," she said. "I had nothing to do with it."

Gaxiola also denied involvement; Bush was arrested at a Kingman, Ariz., hospital where he was being treated for a leg wound he allegedly received when the woman who survived the attack managed to get a gun and fire back.

Killed were 9-year-old Brisenia Flores and her 29-year-old father, Raul Junior Flores. The name of the wounded woman who survived the attack hasn't been released.

Forde is well known in the anti-illegal immigration community, said Brian Levin, director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University-San Bernardino.

"She's someone who even within the anti-immigration movement has been labeled as unstable," Levin said. "She was basically forced out of another anti-immigrant group, the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, and then founded her own organization."

Stonex, of Alamagordo, N.M., said he met Forde while on an Arizona border watch operation last fall, and liked her despite her reputation in the Minutemen community.

"I know she's always had sort of a checkered past but I take people for what I see and not what I hear," the 57-year-old said.

She recruited him to start a new chapter in New Mexico, but was secretive about her group or its members. Stonex said he didn't know how to recruit for a chapter and never did.

He said Forde called him on the day of the attack while he was visiting Arizona and asked him to bring bandages to an Arivaca home because Bush had been wounded. Stonex said it appeared Bush had a relatively minor gunshot wound, which he treated.

He said Forde and Bush told him Bush been wounded by a smuggler who shot at him while the group were patrolling the desert.

Stonex said he didn't suspect that might not be the case until was contacted by a deputy on Saturday about their alleged involvement in the crime.

On Saturday, Arizona detectives were pursuing tips that members of Forde's group may have staged a home invasion robbery in Shasta Lake, Calif., on Monday.

The victims, friends of Forde's mother, reported being robbed at gunpoint of nearly $12,000 by two men who showed up at the door and presented badges claiming they were U.S. Marshals.

Truck driver Peter Myers, 48, said he recognized one of men who robbed him after he saw news reports about Forde's arrest and photographs of her co-defendants.

He said the man who directed the robbery in his home was Jason Eugene Bush, 34. The ex-convict from Eastern Washington is a Forde associate now accused of being the gunman in the Arivaca killings.

"That is the guy. He pointed a gun right at us," Myers said.

Arizona officials have said Bush is recovering from a gunshot wound received during the home invasion there. Myers said that description fits the tall man who bound him with zip ties and then took cash from the family's lock box.

Over at Free Republic they're a bit confused... denying that she's a conservative, blaming the "liberal media," not taking any kind of.... what is that phrase?

"Personal accountability?"

Personal accountability for the religion of hate that they themselves have created and thereby unleashed their very own demons from.

Meanwhile, over at RedState... Erick Erickson is in denial, as a search on Shawna Forde OR Shawana Forde and you'll come up with nothing.

Then again, maybe you have to be a member of that tea-baggers club, such is the case at LGF

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/33928_What_Right_Wing_Extremists

I do have to give Charles Johnson some credit though, his site is at least acknowledging that there *is* a problem amongst the conservative base (the Freepers don't take kindly to the views espoused at LGF.)

I haven't the stomach to check out Malkin or Hannity today...

All in all, It's a wonder the number of conservatives isn't lower, you'd think that their stomach ulcers would do them in.

It doesn't dawn on these MFs that THEIR ancestors were immigrants, too. As the economy crumbles and the whites become even more of a minority, look for more of this from the cretins.

these "patriots," knowingly or not, are valued and supported by white supremicists. strip away the concerns for a safe america, and you'll find the age old skeletons of hatred and racism. that's all this movement is based on. always was, always will be.

Shooting and killing a nine-year-old girl in the name of "patriotism" is the most vile and disgusting act imaginable. These people are sick in their souls, or have successfully deadened them.

I believe the American Dream is slipping away and this is causing these characters to become even more danger0us.....I believe it is more than having Obama in the White House and Dems in control of Congress. They see the good jobs are gone and both husband and wife have to work to provide for the family, leaving little time for the children, who need parental supervision and guidance and are getting this from the internet and TV. Health care and the cost of living is putting the squeeze on these people and the pressure of knowing you could lose one's job at any moment and it could take months and months to find a job to replace it that probably be for even less pay and benefits, if any. Guys like Ru$h tell them that i lleg.al immigrants have taken the jobs and that liberal Dems are handing them GET INTO THE COUNTRY FREE cards, taxing the health care and education systems. Beck, Savage and the right wing pundits prey on the fear and anxiety these people operate under on a daily basis. A person, under this sort of negative stimulus, could, unfortunately, feel that there is no way out and decide to take drastic action. In my opinion, this sort of person is far more danger0us than the typical hat.er, who usually is well-accustomed to venting his or her frustrati0ns.

Let's be honest here about the Minutemen and extremist views.
"During their March 13 broadcast of Colorado's Morning News, Newsradio 850 KOA co-anchors Steffan Tubbs and April Zesbaugh interviewed Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist regarding violence among Mexican drug cartels on its border with the United States. But they failed to inform listeners that his organization has described itself as a "citizens' Vigilance Operation monitoring immigration, business, and government" and is best known for volunteer patrols along the U.S.-Mexico border that, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, have drawn support from white supremacist groups.

Further, responding to Zesbaugh's question: "[S]hould the U.S. send in troops?" Gilchrist repeatedly advocated that President Obama "call up Army Airborne Rangers [and] put them into Mexico regardless of Mexico's position on this." Neither Tubbs nor Zesbaugh questioned him regarding the concept of a unilateral U.S. military incursion "into Mexico" or his assertion that "[w]e don't need the permission of Mexico" to launch one."

Can't we at least send them to a third country to be held without trial forever? I'm too afraid to have them locked up here in the United States.

There had to be many who knew of her increasingly dangerous, ILLEGAL, and violent intentions. Read what her own birth mother reported her to have said:
"Forde's mother, who lives in California, said she was not surprised to hear of her daughter's arrest.Rena Caudle said Forde visited her before heading to the border this year. She talked of staging home invasions, Caudle said."She sat here and said that she was going to start a group where they went down and start taking things away from the Mexican mafia," Caudle said. "She was going to kick in their doors and take away the money and the drugs."Caudle said she wasn't sure what to make of that at the time, in part because Forde has a history of exaggeration and lying. Then, early on May 30 -- a few hours after the shootings -- Caudle said, Forde called her and reported she was taking refuge in a "safe house" in Arivaca.Forde "was very frightened," Caudle said. "She says, 'I'm in hiding.' I said, 'What is going on?' She said. 'You won't believe was is going down here … The mafia, they are kicking down doors and they are shooting people and they are looking for me.'"
Read this entire article...and you will see that nothing was done to protect the innocents. That's because this anti-immigration movement has been given legitimacy.

There's been a disturbing spree of hate crimes lately, all by people whose views and words are not so very rarely heard in America. Throw in guns and you've got the ingredients for hate-homicide. It seems that when the country shifts even a little bit left, the extreme right falls off its shaky barstool and goes quite literally ballistic.
