Orrin Hatch

Deseret News:

U.S. Sens. Orrin Hatch and Bob Bennett, both R-Utah, got polite receptions Saturday at the state GOP convention, but both also recognized that some of the rank-and-file delegates weren't pleased with them.

Hatch, at one point in his speech, appeared upset when some delegates applauded as a way of blaming national Republicans, himself included, for the deficit and other problems of the Bush years.

"Don't you believe that B.S.," Hatch said loudly. But some of the 1,800 delegates clearly did.

As someone who has lived in Utah for over 35 years I can say it's time for both Hatch and Bennett to go home. I feel like the lone stranger here as I am not a retrug.

My man Hatch yes I live in Utah

He lie,s me thinks !!

also this is a man who promised when he ran for office that he believed in term limits

and you can tell he lives up to his beliefs how many terms has this man served more then two !!

health care lobbies have paid him or donated to his charity quite a bit of money

I have written him many letters over the years and guess what !!! his reply's to my letters never quite fit the questions I have asked him about !!!

once he even forwarded my letter too the D.O.D instead of reading the report about D ,,,, U,,, and answering me him self except to tell me he forwarded my letter .

Yes you can say I want him to be replaced with some one who will work for the good people of Utah

When Bush and Cheney were pulling all the crap that everyone with any common sense knew was wrong but could not stop because of the republican control of the legislature, WH and the courts - Hatch and Bennett were front and center cheerleaders for Bush. Now that the disastrous results of those Bush decisions aided in no small part by Hatch and Bennett have come home to rooost and the country is upside down in domestically and internationally, these guys want to distance themselves from the consequences of their decisions by trying to re-write history.
Typical republicans: Take Credit for Everything, and Responsibility for Nothing.

Term limits is long overdue. Most of these old guys have been in DC so long, they do not even know or care, what is going on in the REAL world. Hatch is against medical reform because he took lots of $$$$ from big pharma, plus his son is a lobbyist for the pharma industry. They are doing fine, so what is all the fuss about???

The way to limit terms is through the election of new people. I find it hilarious, contradictory and ironic that righties who profess to be small government and anti-government regulation types are the first to fall back on the regulation of terms when confronted with thier own inability to make it off the couch and to the ballot box or worse when confronted with actually having to go door to door to educate the voters about the ills of the current system. Tragic really, find good candidates run them and support them, and when they disappoint vote them out and vote someone else in. Simple, no need for more government regulation!!!

Hatch, et al. tied the knot on the rope the GNOPE is using to hang itself. Some elder statesman.

Hey Orrin - Nice crowd you run with:

"South Carolina GOP activist and former chairman of the state elections commission Rusty DePass has apologized for saying a gorilla that escaped from a zoo was an "ancestor" of Michelle Obama."

The more extreme the Republican Party gets, the more moderate Republicans are criticized and pushed aside, the smaller the GOP gets and more regional. They're cannibalizing the party now -- eating their own.
