Orrin Hatch

Deseret News:

U.S. Sens. Orrin Hatch and Bob Bennett, both R-Utah, got polite receptions Saturday at the state GOP convention, but both also recognized that some of the rank-and-file delegates weren't pleased with them.

Hatch, at one point in his speech, appeared upset when some delegates applauded as a way of blaming national Republicans, himself included, for the deficit and other problems of the Bush years.

"Don't you believe that B.S.," Hatch said loudly. But some of the 1,800 delegates clearly did.

Core republican are out of touch with the way the world is changing. Thus moderate repubs have no where to go. What's left of the core republicans include too many ign0rant, angry, white fanatics. Problem is that America's becoming more progress and brown.

It's not the color of the candidates that'll. seal the repubes fate it's the color of their policies and philosophies: green. Not eco-green, corporate green. Wall street proved that the people will never prosper while they control the country. Who needs them? invest your money locally. You'll actually see the difference it makes.

This is what angers me so much. President Clinton leaves his Republican successor with a surplus for heaven's sake and he goes and trashes the economy and leaves us with nothing but a huge debt. I don't care HOW much it initially costs to get Obama's health care and green energy though. Even if President Obama balances the budget, another Repug comes in (heaven forbid) they will just waste it on tax cuts for the rich and war and we will end up with nothing yet again.

Bush found 133,000 people at the very top that he wanted to make even richer. They were his base of special rich people.

Keep telling a lie until it gets so big you begin to believe yourself, Orrin. Go the way of
Do Do bird you relic. Maybe Utah will wake up and send you to the dustbins of history.

Politicians in general are disengenuous but Republicans have mastered the art of blatant, useless lying.

These people, even the ones that are finally realizing they have been bamboozled don't know squat; "I said I see no evidence that you are doing anything. I'm engaged (in congressional action). I know what is going on. We're $3 billion in debt, and I worry about my four children'. I wonder if those fine folks will be so polite when they suddenly discover the debt is $12 TRILLION and climbing? I guess Utah dropped Accounting 101 from their teaching.

I live in Utah where Hatch practices and delivers his brand of palaver. He not only helped drive Bush economic policy, but after applying his favorite pancake makeup, waved the Republican flag at the head of the Bush parade. He's a career politician who exists to impede anything medically, socially, economically or ethically progressive. He does it with the help of short, fear slogans designed to belittle his opponents with little distraction from facts. And he also plays a mean, patriotic organ. You can order hi cd's online. Here in Utah, we're so proud. I mean, top that Obama.

I lived in UT for many years and it's impossible to separate Mr. Hatch from the uber-fundamentalist brand of conservatism that permeates the culture there. Anyone paying attention knows that his brand of leadership would have women at home, daddy in charge and the clocks would be set back to the 1950's when "everyone knew their place."

Some of the comments quoted in that article are a wonderful illustration of why the Republican party is where it is, and why it's likely to stay there for a very long time.

Hatch is a coward who isn't man enough to own up to the mistakes made under Bush, a man who's destructive policies he championed for 8 years. No wonder that party is in the wilderness with guys like Hatch still around.
