Hatch Faces Anger At GOP Utah Convention: Calls Bush Blame "B.S."

U.S. Sens. Orrin Hatch and Bob Bennett, both R-Utah, got polite receptions Saturday at the state GOP convention, but both also recognized that some of the rank-and-file delegates weren't pleased with them.

Hatch, at one point in his speech, appeared upset when some delegates applauded as a way of blaming national Republicans, himself included, for the deficit and other problems of the Bush years.

"Don't you believe that B.S.," Hatch said loudly. But some of the 1,800 delegates clearly did.

Look - you play a round of golf, you tally up the strokes, and you see who won. If this nation were enjoying peace, prosperity, upticks in a majority of quality-of-life metrics (life expectancy, literacy, personal income, etc.), healthy social mobility, international regard, etc. - then the R's might have a claim that their dogma hasn't run the country into the ground. That isn't the case, though, is it?

3dtrix- What a spot-on, uber-accurate metaphor for the last 12 years of Republican rule in America. Orrin Hatch is the perfect example of the old-guard politicians who have run the country for many years and it's time to recognize that they do not have the interests of the American people in mind.

The real challenge lies in the ability of the American people to wise-up and start electing representatives who are beholden to them rather than the lobbyists and special interests.
