NBC News paid tribute this week to "Meet the Press" host and NBC Washington Bureau Chief Tim Russert, who passed away one year ago yesterday.

Nightly News anchor Lester Holt recalled "the man who taught us all so much and showed us how to do our jobs a little better."

On Friday, Keith Olbermann described Russert as "the light" of the network. "One hour a week belonged to him and him alone." All of NBC New's programming has continued, he said, but none of it is the same.

Tim was one of a kind..I wish everyone would read his books..They give a true accounting of an extremely successful man who never forgot all those who helped him along the way, worked for everything he had, and was proud of where he came from. Wish there were more like him.

My girlfriend and I r e a l l y miss Tim Russert.

He was like an information fixture.
Honest, Informed, Intelligent and driven.
Sadly, MTP will never be the same . . .

Like a Johnny Carson, Jay Leno or David Letterman
we routinely tuned in to watch.

I'm just sad Tim never got to interview Sarah Palin. She entered the race after he had died. That would have been entertaining.

Tim was a true journalist...you listened to him and you believed in journalism. But seems like journalism died with Timothy Russert...he was best of the best! RIP!

Tim,
May your soul rest in eternal peace. MTP will never be the same...do not watch anymore.

I always wondered Tim's reaction would have been on 4th November 2008 after the election results were finalized!

Tim we will always miss your humility and wisdom!

Tim was a dying breed. I could always count on him to follow up until he got an answer. I left a tribute to him on my blog http://republicindrag.blogspot.com/ . There hasn't been a Sunday since he died that I don't miss his intelligence, warmth and humor. Too bad about his Bills.

Another establishment kingpin being remembered by his fraternity. Meet the Press has not changed much since his premature passing. Anyone who bought into the WMD pretense to war certainly lacked insight.

RIP

Tim was a history buff and he knew when someone was not telling the truth - he would quote something they said and go back in history like he wrote the books himself. He is greatly miss I say..... The best!

Tim Russert is the best ever. NBC really should get rid of david gregory.

Who could forget Russert election night 2000 with his little board....you just cant deny his enthusiasm for this stuff...I always feel bad for Mike Barnacle they seemed to have a bond like true brothers...not to forget about his wife and son...

NBC needs to put Meet the Press into the hands of a capable interviewer, and that man is NOT Gregory .....

The only 'newsman' who has the class and the ability to even think of following Tim, is Aaron Brown ... I have written to NBC about this several times too .... not even ONE polite reply!
