Susan Boyle Cancels Sunday Show, Promises Monday Return

LONDON — Singing sensation Susan Boyle will rejoin the "Britain's Got Talent" live tour on Monday, her spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said the 48-year-old Scottish singer took a break Sunday, but is scheduled to perform in Glasgow on Monday night.

"She had one rest day, but she will be back on stage tonight," she said, adding that she expected Boyle to take part in the rest of the tour, which runs until early July. The spokeswoman spoke anonymously in line with company policy.

Boyle, whose first appearance on the TV talent show generated had millions of YouTube hits and compliments from around the world, had been hospitalized a few weeks ago for exhaustion after finishing second in the competition.

The church volunteer was due on stage for a matinee and evening show at the Manchester Evening News Arena on Sunday, but did not perform.

She received standing ovations at the tour's previous shows in Birmingham and Sheffield.

Poor Susan ,her every move is reported on. Why doesn't the news mention when the other acts take a day off. The show ramrods those poor contestants through a rigorous month of daily shows. Susan is not the only act who takes nights off. What's wrong with her taking a break ,a night off ? Is it really news worthy. I'll be glad when she is done with that show so she can move on and do her own thing.

She has a marvelous voice but if she can't keep up with the rigors of touring, a singing career outside the studio isn't the right thing for her.

I haven't read about a voice coach as of yet.
But in one of the articles a day or so before she started on the tour she did go into the studio to rehearse for her new CD and they said that she picked out a bunch of songs from musicals that she would like to have on her CD and they said that now they will whittle the list down a little bit, so the final songs haven't been decided upon yet.

The entertainment industry is incredibly ruthless especially for newcomers.

From what I've read about Ms. Boyle from British blogs is that she suffered oxygen deprivation during birth.
She comes from a small village in Scotland and people there have always been protective of her, and as she grew older, she was constantly praised for doing good deeds and for singing in local pubs.
She is not a woman accustomed to criticism or stress.
I wish her the best of luck if chooses to continue her desire for fame and fortune and hope that Simon Cowell, since he owns her recording contract and rights to her life story, takes care with her and watches out for her best interests.

Nice post, but I really hope Cowell doesn't own rights to her life story.

"Owning" her as a performer makes sense (although I'll bet its a horrible and stingy contract). But ...her life story? That should be hers to negotiate and own , no one elses.

Cowell doesn't need the money. He doesn't need to keep exploiting these talented performers.

40 years ago the general population was MUCH MORE easy going, accepting of "variation" in personalities. We've been herded into a one size fits all, sheep herd in the last 30 years.....­..........­.

Ms. Streisand is multi-talented and she had to endure plenty of criticism throughout her long career and she has done it with style.
