YEKATERINBURG, Russia (AFP) - Iran's under-fire President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Tuesday sat side-by-side with world leaders at a summit in Russia, defiantly proclaiming the age of empires had ended and attacking the United States.

Russia has been asking to remove the dollar as leading currency for a long time, and it seems that they are gaining momentum. Ronald Reagan brought communism down to its knees with the arms race, and now they are repaying the favor. America is bogged down in debt and Russia and China are seizing the moment. Look at who is selling the weapons technology to little dictators....

I don't get your angle here. If we default on debt to China are they going to repossess the US? China has a vested interest in the health of the US economy. Not only because of the debt but because if the US goes into a deep depression China will soon follow. We are the largest buyer of Chinese goods.

As for the Russians....Anyone who thought Putin wasn't a power hungry dictator (Bush for instance) is a fool. His goal is to reform the Soviet Union nothing less.Not so much with tanks. Oil and gas are his main weapons.

The best weapon against the likes of Ahmadinejad and Putin is to wean the country from oil as quick as possible. All those who waste energy have no reason to complain.

The US is in deep doodoo. There is talk of a jobless recovery. Some believe unemployment wont improve until the thrid quarter of 2010. This summer, even after government help, 50% yo Boston's youth will be unemployed.

I would like to know what is going on in that summit in Yekaterinburg, Russia. I've seen reports that the US asked to attend, was rejected, and they are currently deciding not to use the US Dollar as the standard reserve currency.

If this is true it would have far more serious economic and security consequences than we have seen in our lifetimes. This is the big story.
