I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Update: Fox News hosts responded to President Obama's accusations of bias on Wednesday morning's "Fox & Friends" (h/t TVNewser). Anchor Steve Doocy defended his network on the grounds that, outside of Fox News, "you don't hear a lot of criticism [of Obama]."

Doocy and co-anchors Gretchen Carlson and Brian Kilmeade also criticized Obama for not admitting "that there is one network that is absolutely devoted to being his cheerleader," presumably a reference to MSNBC.

In a post to her GretaWire blog, Greta Van Sustere also responded to the President's remarks, and she invited him to appear on "On the Record" to "bury the hatchet":

"There is a huge Fox audience that he represents since he is the President of all Americans," she wrote. "He should speak to the Fox audience, too. He is the President for ALL."

Watch from "Fox & Friends" Wednesday:

Original Post: President Obama, in a wide-ranging interview with CNBC's John Harwood that covered the economy and the turbulent Iranian election, took a shot at Fox News when asked about media coverage of his young administration (H/t Politico for the video clip):

"I've got one television station that is entirely devoted to attacking my administration...That's a pretty big megaphone. You'd be hard pressed if you watched the entire day to find a positive story about me on that front," Obama said.

You can read CNBC's report on the interview here. Watch the full interview below. And watch Obama show off his quick reflexes by crushing a pesky fly during the interview here.

that was a booooooring 3.38 mins. I feel dumber for watching it. Thanks Fox. They say Obama bashing makes them the only fair and balanced network. Lame. I mean, come on. They are reporting about reporting. They should stick to just making things up, at least it´s more interesting.

I wonder how many times, per day, the phrase "you're absolutely right (Glen-Bill-Sean-Greta)" is used on FNC..everytime I try to count..the massive headache..makes me change the channel...gotta love, fair and balanced

Well, when you're right, you are right. Doesn't matter who you are. And yes, fair and balanced is a pleasant change from the likes of Oberman and Couric.

I wonder how many people are going to be on the edge of their seats for ABC's Propaganda Extravaganza on the 24th. ABC says Obama will answer all my questions about health care. How will he do that without knowing what my questions are? Is he actually God like Newsweek says and he will just divine my questions?

Perhaps he will do Karnac to Biden's Ed McMann.

Here´s an idea. Instead of waiting until the 24th for someone else to explain health care to you, go out and educate yourself. Read a book. Find out how it works in Denmark, for example. You´ll be surprised how well it works. And since when is extreme right wing fascism balanced or fair? Since when does Fox take both sides of an issue? One could possibly make the lame argument that NBC and Fox together are balanced but not by themselves. If you believe Fox is balanced then... I wanna sell you tickets to the next Michael Jackson concert. Elvis will be there too!

Fox and its followers are suffering from a post "jim-crow" or segregationist hangover. They cling to the turn of the 20th century and will not catch up to the 21st century until the U.S. enters the 22nd. So sad that so many "white people" are still hung up in the era of the KKK and "Plessy vs. Ferguson". Who are the political pundits that frequent Fox--the 25% party.

Interesting how so many Liberals want to shut out the past. I was lucky enough to grow up in an America that was relatively safe and with relative freedom where I was able to get a good education unfettered by the Federal Government. The youth of today will never experience that and the Left seems to think that is a good thing. I'm so thankful that I have lived whan I have. This future the Democrats are bringing us looks pretty bleak.

I think Greta's quote kind of misses the point here. Obama was not saying that FOX's VIEWERS were entirely devoted to attacking his administration, he was saying the network itself was. There is a difference there. Their viewers are really just a bunch of drones that would believe the moon was a giant round marshmallow if FOX told them so.

And judging by the way they chop up everything he says and takes it completely out of context, FOX itself would probably not serve as the best proxy for Obama to reach out to the "FOX audience."

This is why Obama is awesome. Because he doesn't really mind that Fox is persistently against him. He knows that's their prerogative. He sees it as good!

But Fox assumes he is foaming at the mouth and enraged under his calm veneer, because they can't imagine someone appreciating loyal opposition!

Wow, I'm good.

If Fox is such an 'insignificant' network, why bother...The Huffington writers are all over every word they speak, Obama mentions them at least once a week...even referenced them tonite during his comedy routine. Here is why Fox News enjoys such popularity. People are really beginning to see that the MSM is in Obama's hip pocket. When was the last time one of you asked a dissenting question? Are you afraid you will receive the same treatment as Joe the plumber during the campaign? Many people (even some who voted for Obama) are beginning to back away from fully supporting the President because of the lack of transparency, honesty, and lack of bi-partisonship (which was the theme for Obama's campaign speeches) There ARE two sides to every issue, because one asks a question that does not que up to your position does not make that person an advesary...and shouldn't kill the idea of eventual bi-partisonship on legislation in congress.

So many people pay attention to Fox News because of their methods and their popularity. I challenge you to find a "news" organization that has been so devoted to bending the truth, mincing words, and letting people's worst fears fill in the blanks as Fox News. Case in point, your post states,

"Many people (even some who voted for Obama) are beginning to back away from fully supporting the President because of the lack of transparency, honesty, and lack of bi-partisonship."

This is a tactic employed on Fox several dozen times a day. Your claim is not supported by the stated popularity of that position, even if that popularity existed. Who are "many people"? why is it that many people believing that unsupported statement should make it more true? I know better than to believe your bullsht statement, but I fear that some may take it at face value. This happens on such a large scale at Fox that one unsupported statement can sway public opinion.

Well, like it or not Fox is bordering on some subversive territory. The RightWing has been firm in equating 'Libruls, Democrats, Progressives, Baby-Killers, Atheists, etc.' and lumped us all together as antithetical to America. Every time some hothead goes postal and starts firing into a crowd because he "Hates Liberals" is paving a trail right back to the FauxNews Feet. Don't be surprised when Federal troops get called out to clear the streets.

Hannity, Doocy, and Carlsen could all be facing "Inciting to Riot" or some such. If more folks keep dying DOJ will have to think of something.

Did this reporter see the same interview that I did? I didn't percieve any finger waving on the part of the Prez. He was asked a question about whether his administration was getting a pass by the press, at which point he mentions negative criticism he receives from a particular network.

I didn't see any call out, or reprimand, or finger waving. There's no story here, is there?

Criticism by one out of many. Hardly seems fair and he'd squash that lone source if he could. I think it is a story when the majority of the mainstream press is in any presidents pocket.

When did have an opposing viewpoint become ILLEGAL in American. First Amendment is to protect speech whether you agree or not. We can say the same thing about NBC whose CEO Immelt is on Obama's economic advisory board. Maybe a conflict of interest. Using inflammatory language or derogatory remarks to put down an opposing viewpoint shows your own ignorance.

One afternoon on his radio program Hannity refused to call Obama "President", saying he will not be bullied into saying something he doesn't believe. Instead he simply said he felt that "The Messiah" and "The Chosen One" were more appropriate!

If you've never done so, check out Hannity's website forums, especially "Washington Politics" for a REAL eye opener as to who actually follows Hannity. Limbaugh and Fox. SCARY stuff!

Haven't ever seen posts here that even come close to matching the vile hate-filled and racist nonsense of Hannity's forum. I could fill a page with examples of posts that would appall most Americans Dem or Rep and most certainly would NEVER pass the moderator screening here.

Hannity is real big on "guilt by association". It's his website and his moderators. For even his MODERATORS to be posting some of the most outright racist remarks about President Obama, his wife and family is pathetic,

Mr. Hannity is NOT a "Great American".

Right before the election he told his radio audience:

"There IS no financial crisis. We have the lowest inemployment in decaades, our GNP is the highest it's been in years and our companies are strong. This is all Obama lies, a ploy to get elected"!

"Don't you believe it ladies and gentlemen... EVERYTHING that Michelle Obama said (in her eloquent and moving speech at the DNC) was scripted, PURE HOLLYWOOD! Never forget that this is an ANGRY BLACK WOMAN"!

Maybe we need all those that declared George Bush was not their President. Maybe we need to list all the comments (name-calling) made by the media, politicians, and hollywood. I guess that does not matter when it is the opposing side. I wonder how many supporters of the current administration held the same view when their guy was not in office.

Faux News doesn't read an Associated Press story like they are supposed to. When they finish with it you can't tell usually that it was even the same story. That is not good journalism. That is not even fair and balanced (which is humorous to me that AL Jazeera English says the same thing, wonder which one stole the expression) and if you study journalism, which is their job, it is called in textbook form, Yellow Journalism. Faux News is the only ones who think they are fair and balanced. That would be like the statue entitled Justice lifting one side of her blindfold up so she could see and having one finger on the scale to tip to show how fair and balanced they really are. For Bill O'Reilly to call his portion the "NO SPIN" zone is a joke. He is the All Spin Zone. Rush Limbaugh hasn't gotten anything right since he started getting high in the early eighties. I refuse to listen to them and still have to hear about everything they say because it is on all the other news channels pegged correctly as B.S.

After he said this, so many folks were saying, "Waaah Obambi. Doesn't like that one network doesn't fawn over him."

And I say to them: "Maybe Obama doesn't give them much material to hit him with. He doesn't gaffe every 2 seconds, isn't breaking any laws, isn't sleeping with a random intern, etc."

I remember very clearly how the "liberal media" ran Rev. Wright 24/7 for 2 months straight, but hardly touched Keating 5 and Palin's AIP. Imagine if Obama had been part of such group.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pvqYiXoIE8 Obama can really hit Fox good for by repealing the Telecomm Act of 1996 for starters.
