Weird Al Takes On Craigslist With A Little Help From The Doors (VIDEO)

Weird Al Yankovic is back with a single called "Craigslist" off an album due out next year. He mocks the Website, and those that can be found hocking wares on it. The single is an obvious homage to the Doors (Ray Manzarek was enlisted to play keyboard) but unlike most of Weird Al's previous work, it is not set to a specific song's preexisting tune, but rather an amalgam of several of them.

True fans of Al - and they are legion - know that only about half of any album are true parodies. There is always one medley, traditionally set to a zippy polka beat. The remainder are original songs, some of which are just goofy (Albuquerque and Genius in France come to mind), but many are in an identifiable genre, sometimes associated with a single group. This falls in that last category, along with things like My Baby's in Love with Eddie Vedder (Zydeco music), Germs (Nine Inch Nails, but not exactly like any of Reznor's tunes), or Do I Creep You Out (rock ballad). The man has incredible range when it comes to music, and some of the original stuff is at least as good as any of the parodies.

still great after all these years. not many actual rockers can still produce solid music as long as he has. yes, it is humor, but to still be so inspired is a real gift.

Not too many musicians can have the same core four members since 1981 like al has. He has added people so he can do more things on stage but his three original band members are still with him.
