CALVIN KLEIN THREESOME BILLBOARD: Too Hot For Houston Street? (PHOTO, POLL)
Calvin Klein's newest NYC billboard has some SoHo passersby stopping in shock. The advertisement features three topless models--and one's a woman--and another bony boy unzipping his pants, all showing their love for great jeans, and each other.
Many residents told the Associated Press that the scene is too much to see during their morning commute.
"I think it's obscene," said Rachelle Brunn, who was passing by the extremely large billboard in Manhattan's Soho neighborhood. "They always have ads that are pushing the envelope, but this one is the worst I've seen since I've been here. My biggest concern is that it gives teens the wrong idea."
And the tourists...oh, the tourists:
Jodi Baron, who was visiting New York City from Cleveland, said the billboard's location didn't matter. "One girl. Three guys. No shirts. It's not the best way to depict women," Baron said. "I don't care if it's New York City. I think it's really inappropriate."
But certain fashion designers are absolutely enthralled by Calvin Klein's tantalizing tableau, according to The Cut.
Womenswear designer Francisco Costa, too, loves the ad, and is upset he even has to defend it. "Please!" he said. "It's so, like, old news. Don't you think we should be a little ashamed for even having to discuss? I mean, it's great for us. So if you want to talk about it, let's talk about it. But there was no intention of making that controversial. Just make beautiful ads. And they're beautiful ads. And I think, you know, we're such a forward society, but we tend to be a little prudish sometimes. It's New York City! It's the 21st century! Honey, we have to move on! We have to move on."
We want to know what you think.
