I got a kick out of watching some of this on Cspan today. Its over 600 pages long, and they said they are going to go through it line by line. Now why would they start reading bills now after all these years of just letting lobbyist telling them what they want to hear, and then signing it?
This is all dog and pony show, and a huge waste of taxpayer money. Not as huge as the bailouts to the rich, but still a huge waste. It wont pass for one big reason. The wealthiest elitist make too much money from the middle class and working poor when they are faced with illness or injury. And politicians kiss the backside of the wealthy.

I have another idea. What say you that when one of these Congress-critters opens their mouth demonizing single-payer we bombard their office with calls and faxes and e-mail telling them to drop their government-paid insurance? You don't have to live in their state.

When a Senator or a Congressperson does something that is great for the people it doesn't matter that they're not my representative. I write to them and say thanks for thinking of the people.

To all the people out there opposing or in fear of a public option, I'll take a guess you have employer subsidize health care at the moment..... did you ever consider what will happen if you're laid off? COBRA's not cheap!

Is anyone surprise the republicans would play the fear card? The Government is going to control your health care......well your health care is already controlled by insurance companies! Pick your poison as the saying goes. Me.....I just want it to cost less.

Check out the 2009 Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. In most of the plans, the insured doesn't have to pay for hospital inpatient care.

This is one of the FAQs:

Q. I have a pre-existing heart condition. When I change plans, do I need to worry about a waiting period before I can get coverage?
A. There are no exclusions or waiting periods for pre-existing conditions in any plan in the FEHB Program. This is also true after you retire.

Are you kidding me?

For almost all Republicans and many Democrats, the issue is about one thing only, keeping the big insurance companies in business and rolling in the profits. They could care less about budgets or people without insurance coverage.

Here is who Judd is for.

And thats not us.

AETNA Headquarters: Hartford, Connecticut 2007 Profits: $1.831 billion 2007 CEO Total Compensation: Ronald A. Williams, $23,045,834 Aetna has a long history in the business of insurance. Founded to sell life insurance in 1850, it became the first insurance company owned by stockholders to go into the health coverage business. Infamous For: “Underwriting Discipline” In 2007, Aetna applauded itself for its low “medical loss ratio”--the percentage of revenue it “loses” to paying for health care. (Sensitive to public relations, the industry now calls this a “medical benefit ratio.”) “Our commercial medical benefit ratio of 79.2% for the fourth quarter and 79.5% for the full year reflected solid underwriting discipline and our focused efforts in the area of medical management,” CEO Ronald Williams told investors in February, 2008. Translation: We are proud to spend less than 80 percent of premiums on health care by avoiding unhealthy enrollees and keeping a lid on services.

GOP theme song:

I don’t know what they have to say,
It makes no difference anyway --
Whatever it is, I’m against it!
No matter what it is or who commenced it,
I’m against it.

Your proposition may be good
But let’s have one thing understood --
Whatever it is, I’m against it!
And even when you’ve changed it or condensed it,
I’m against it.

I’m opposed to it --
On general principles I’m opposed to it!

Chorus: He’s opposed to it!
In fact, in word, in deed,
He’s opposed to it!

I'm in love with Senator Mikulski.!!! There is no one in the Senate who speaks with as much emotion, empathy and enthusiasm while telling it exactly like it is.

I know, I'm a woman and old enough to be her mother. But then mothers are allowed to be in love with their offspring.
