I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Michelle Pfeiffer told David Letterman how she landed her role in 'Scarface' by making Al Pacino bleed.

Appearing on 'Late Night' Tuesday night to promote 'Cheri,' Pfeiffer said that Al Pacino already didn't want her cast in the role of Elvira when she was asked to screen test.

Shooting an argument scene where she clears a table of dishes, Pfeiffer finished the take and saw blood everywhere. As the crew rushed her to see where she'd been cut, she looked up and realized it was Pacino who was bleeding, thanks to her gestures and dish throwing.

And that's when, she says, Pacino's affection towards her turned and she got the job.

I can't believe she is 50+

She's beat the "over the hill" deterioration challenge. Hotter than ever!

She is still beautiful. She was so gorgeous when she was younger. I loved her in "Dangerous Liasons."
And she was hilarious in "Hairspray." Too bad she never won an Oscar.

Michelle always selects such interesting and varied roles. Sounds like she had fun jumping into Cheri's skin. I recently borrowed the tale from the library and look forward to her performance as the aging courtesan. Can you hear her purr?

She's not afraid like a lot of Holywood female stars are, and men for that matter, to give priority to a good role instead of the way she looks. The review I read said there's a scene in her new film where she looks into the mirror and sees all the lines and age. Should be fascinating.

i can see it over and over again, the actors were outstanding, absolutely believable, after he killed the guy who was MP's lover and the cop, why did he ask that guy who worked for him to come on board his staff, by the way, i could go for that guy, where is he now?

I liked Scarface too, at least he the fiirst 3/4 of it. The last part and especially the shootup in the mansion was a bit too cartoonish for me and was more like a grand opera to boot. Pheiffer was exceptional in that though and should have won an Oscar for it.

MP is a wonderfully talented artist and a seemingly authentic, intelligent human being, and has a beautiful face. That being said, if you watch the video with the sound off, you will see her face is rather frozen and has been treated with botox and filler generously, not to mention she's had an excellent face lift. Her nose "corrections," as she has aged, are making her nose appear smaller and smaller, but that's what happens when even the best plastic surgery ages. But her beautiful face is her trademark, and she is still a top listed Hollywood actress, it is in her best interests to remain youthful looking for the public and the camera. I don't blame her, yet would love to see what her naturally beautiful face would look like now, after all these years, untouched. Have been seeing her in the store grocery shopping for years, since the eighties, and her skin is the most perfect skin you can ever hope to attain. If she had lived the life of an ordinary woman, though, she would weigh about 20 lbs. more, as she is scarily thin, and her face would look like a woman who has lived through 50+ years.

All true and I thouhgt she looked anorexic in "Hairspray". Film puts 10 pounds on you too so she must really be underweight.

really? she s had work done? I thought she was one of the very very few who wouldnt have to. Although - as you point out - Actors are expected to look perfect.

Well, at least she got a decent plastic surgeon. Cause she looks pretty "natural" for Hollywood.

Having lived in the same town as she does for 25 years, and she lived just a few blocks away before she married, it's possible to run into many celebrities at the checkout counter as I have (and still do) a number of times through the years, just minding my own business. Living in LA in this part of town in Santa Monica is the chance to see a broad variety of enhanced faces, the somebodies and the nobodies, as well as other enhanced body parts. No big deal, just a fact of life here in the neighborhood. Sad to disappoint you, there's no stalking going on, no obsession. Seeing Michelle in the mid-80s looking more "real" than how she looks now is what it is, just Hollywood reality and her doing what she wants to mind her career and retain a youthful aspect of her beauty. And hers does look exceedingly superior to other work I've seen. So let's be realistic. A 50+ year old woman doesn't look like that without some help. Relax, it's no big deal.

The only thing I remember about, "Scarface" is the number of times Pacino drops the "f-bomb" and wondering how many times I'd have to hear it before the movie itself becomes too irritating to continue watching. The answer: not very often...
