I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Oreilly Porn

Bill O'Reilly fancies himself a "crusader" in the "Culture Wars," which we presume is why he aired a segment tonight about the dangers posed to children by the shocking amount of pornography available on the popular video site YouTube. Now, we applaud the Fox News host's determination to keep pornography away from children, however it's puzzling why O'Reilly and his producers felt the need to show clips of porn from YouTube during his discussion of the dangers it poses. And not just a single clip, or a quick montage: O'Reilly aired extended montages of multiple YouTube porn clips.

O'Reilly began the segment with a rather strange statement:
"I know a lot of adults don't go to YouTube, but this is the rage among American children, children as young as six, seven years old." In fact, we're quite sure that YouTube is "the rage" among adults as well, but moving on.

His guest was conservative columnist Amanda Carpenter, who started her analysis by explaining exactly what YouTube is. However, the camera quickly turned away from her and went full screen to YouTube porn videos, effectively turning Ms. Carpenter's description into a voice-over for a porn montage.

The camera panned back to O'Reilly after Carpenter finished, and he settled on the two of them while he asked a question about the volume of porn available on YouTube. Carpenter begins her answer, and the camera quickly went back to the YouTube montage of various soft porn clips.

Ms. Carpenter gets some real face time towards the end of the segment when she discussed some of the steps YouTube has taken to combat the accessibility of inappropriate videos to children, but by then the audience has likely had its fill of YouTube porn. And if not, well, O'Reilly just showed you the sheer diversity of the porn available on YouTube.

We assume there was nothing cynical in O'Reilly's decision to titillate his audience with long porn montages while railing against the dangers of porn. Then again, Fox News does have a rich history in arousing its audience for ratings.

Watch O'Reilly's warning below:

While doing this segment Bill O tried referencing the subject of sexual harrassment. It was obvious he realized he was a man who had wandered onto very thin ice. His discomfort was palpable.

That's a no-brainer! How ya gonna adequately fight porn unless you're INTIMATELY conversant about it?

Umm. As far as American culture goes, I think most patriotic parentals would rather have the choice to turn on their parental controls than for gov't to make obsenity illegal. (I can't speak for O'Reilly's worldly audience)

While I am no fan of Fox News, and even less a fan of Billo's, I'm not sure this qualifies as "showing lots of porn", given that the actual footage totals less than 40 seconds. Why make such a stretch when there is a wealth of bona fide hypocrisies just waiting to be brought to light, from both Billo and Fox?

You can tell Fox only wanted to titillate viewers, because they used only images of women -- including one of girl-on-girl. If they'd wanted to ALARM their audience, they would have shown a clip of guy-on-guy ...

I searched YouTube using generic search phrases porn and sex. What I found ran the gamut from satirical skits about the battle of the sexes to the kind of groping you see on an average prime time show on Fox. Most of the videos were either informative or opinion pieces. The number of hits tagged as porn actually decreased while I was at the site as videos were pulled from . It was less than the 300'000 claimed by O'Reilly.

I don't watch Fox News, so I had no idea how bad the sexploitation was.

So, I did a little research. I went to Fox's website (not something I would ordinarily do) and put the word "nude" in their search engine. At a serious news website you wouldn't expect to get many hits. The war in Iraq is far more important than tits and ass. Am I right?

However with "Fox News" I got 690 hits.

I tried typing in the word "sex" in their search engine and got 9,640 hits.

They're not journalists over there. They're a bunch of pervs!

Part of O'Reilly's mental illness is that he is internally-conflicted. One side of him wants to devote himself to posturing as a 'moral' crusader. His other side is a sexually schizophrenic like John Ensign, Larry Craig, David 'Diaperman' Vitter, Pastor Haggard, or Mark Foley. It would not be surprising if he watched the clips dozens of times. He is not only using the titilation for ratings, but also pleasing himself. Rev. Bookburn - Radio Volta
