The British descended upon Berkshire on Tuesday as the Royal Ascot horse race began, bringing together everyone from Queen Elizabeth II to American Idol's Simon Cowell. The race has been held since 1711 and the Royal Enclosure still maintains a strict dress code including headgear: top hats for the men and elaborate numbers mixing fabrics, flowers, feathers and even fruit for the ladies.
