Berlusconi Escort Scandal Emerges Before G8 Summit

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has found himself immersed in yet another scandal, coming on the heels of accusations of his impropriety with an 18-year-old Noemi Letizia. This time around, Berlusconi is denying allegations that he paid female escorts to attend parties at his house, Reuters reports.

Mr. Berlusconi, 72, says the accusations, which stem from an investigation by magistrates in the southern city of Bari, are "false trash" and part of a plot to taint his image ahead of next month's G8 summit, when he will host world leaders.

The escort scandal comes just one month after Berlusconi was reported to have attended 18-year-old Noemi Letizia's birthday party as the 'guest of honor', the Daily Mail reports. Berlusconi also reportedly furnished Letizia with expensive jewelry and lingerie.

Italians are well aware that Berlusconi is a joke. They don't seem to care. In fact most Italians still vote for him, even believing he is a joke. Most simply don't believe they can do better than Berlusconi. Sad, isn't it?

We are not all a joke. We are living in a highly sophisticated feudal society so complicated and byzantine it's impossible to know where to begin to change things. But there are many of us here who work hard for change. Before you throw all Italians down the drain come live here for a minimum of three years.
