Fox Reporter Given A Taste Of Ambush Journalism (VIDEO)

Fox News is well-known for taking the tactic of "ambush journalism" to gratuitous lengths to get footage for air of their pet targets getting freaked out on the streets of this fair nation. For example, you remember that time that NewsHounds reported that Bill O'Reilly was going to be speaking at an event for an organization for rape victims, despite the fact that he'd previously shown contempt for one, and then O'Reilly's nemesis Keith Olbermann talked about it on the air, and they lacked the cojones to ambush either Olbermann or the writers of the blog that put the story out there in the first place, so instead they stalked a ThinkProgress blogger named Amanda Terkel who'd done nothing more than blog about NewsHounds' original post, confronting her on vacation after following her across the state of Virginia from her home? GOOD TIMES.

Adam Green of OpenLeft espied Fox's Griff Jenkins outside a convention for ACORN, a community organizing group who Fox is relentlessly working to depict as a band of Uruk-Hai bent on the destruction of Western civilization. Jenkins was dressed in a tuxedo (he likes to play dress-up!) and standing by a "red carpet" (actually, a sad red doormat), hoping to interview people for something that was sure to be substantive, given the set-up and artifice! So, Green turned the tables on Jenkins, and confronted him about whether Fox reporters are issued memos laden with GOP talking points! It all sort of gets under Jenkins' skin, just a little bit.

The reason this doesn't work as an ambush is that Griff was already there with a mic and camera, expecting to do interviews.

To really get the weasels like Griff, you need to catch them off guard (as they do to all of their interview subjects.)

Adam has a problem. Why was he inside if reporters were not allowed? Obviously Fox was doing a parady of the "Red Carpet" interview. I think Adam acted like a jerk. Why is ACORN so afraid of Fox being at their meeting? ACORN should be transparent since it accepts Gov. Funds.

The folks at Fox as well as all others in loud-mouthed, right wing fake political "reporting" positions reminds me of when I was a child. The big mouths always thought they just had to be loud and pushy and rude to get their way.......­.disregard­ing all rules, etiquette, and plain, old fashioned manners.

But the second someone got rude or pushy or said "no" or embarrassed them - OH NO! The tears would flow, the waling would begin, and Mommy or Daddy would be summoned.

Maybe we watched different videos, but I found him to be quite likable and not unnecessarily rude. He also kept giving Mr. TuxFox plenty of opportunity to answer his question. I also missed the bathrobe you mentioned, but did notice he needed a shave.

What I find unlikable is when a legitimate issue is dismissed and a Fox apologist like you tries to change the subject by posing as Miss Manners.

Oh, I see we need to do a lot of work here. Adam is definitely not well skilled in the art. However, we was tenacious and he did unsettle Griff. I think we should see more of this kind of thing. In the hands of a real professional, this "Griff" guy would have folded after the third question. Fox has gotten a free ride pretty much. We do need an "detox" program for these fox viewers.
