John Hodgman Calls Obama A Nerd At Radio And TV Correspondents' Dinner (VIDEO)

Author and comedian John Hodgman--also known as the PC Guy-- was the headliner of this year's 65th annual Radio and TV Correspondents Dinner, and he delivered a humorous speech in which he teased President Obama for being a "nerd," saying that he hoped Obama could finally heal the "age-old conflict" between nerds and jocks.

The pnetagon is laughing because Obama is leaving 50,000 troops in Iraq and sending 20,000 more to Afghanistan. Bu$h and Cheney are laughing because Obama is allowing them off scot-free. He waffles and compromises when he should stick to his guns. Health care will be his first major failure. Unfortunaely, it will not be his last.

All one has to do is go to a 20th high school reunion to see that nerds always come out on top.

This was a very cute routine. There were no awkward, embarassing moments where we would have to judge the President's reaction. No jokes about the Palins (I am getting tired of those folks), and very little Bush bashing. Truly a routine with fresh material and a very nice delivery by a household face.

Not the funniest of presidential roasts, but an excellent fusion of humor and insight that was thought-provoking and a bit moving. A different kind of speech, but effective on its own terms, and I've never read a comic book or Dune.

The guy did a great job, considering Obama hasn't been in office long enough to generate much material. It was very cute, but no way was it as funny as the Stephen Colbert performance.

Of course, Colbert's performance was after Bush was elected for a second term. So he had so much more to work with.

Obama projects a persona of perfection, and it's hard to make jokes about that. Even the Jib/Jab guys said they didn't have much material to work with.

I do worry that if Obama doesn't let a few warts show, SNL and the Daily Show will just dry up. I would hate that.

SNL and the Daily Show will do just fine as long as there is at least one republican in elected office. The Presidency doesn't have to be ruined for us to entertained. I've yet to meet anyone who is perfect at their job, but if the President want to give it a go at being the first, I want him to succeed at it.
