I could be wrong, but don't you think the whole "No Stern on iPhone" is all about the kids- you know all those 10 - 16 yr olds with iPhones?
I used to listen to Stern every day for a little more than a year - not long before he moved to Sat. Radio; and even Stern himself always said his show isn't meant for kids. So, maybe that's why iPhone isn't the right place for Stern's show?
IMO, the whole Satellite Radio adventure has been a huge disappointment in general, and Stern's moving to Sat Radio was the biggest disappointment of all. More people DIDN'T follow him there than those that did. And those that did, well, they don't seem to be sticking around very long after all.
Sat radio is a PITA for convenience and pricing and as usual, too many Sat radio honchos got too greedy and shot themselves in the foot.
Well you need a credit card to get Sirius and Howard for age verification in the first place! They don't sell Sirius subscription to 16 years old!
I enjoyed Howard when I had Sirius, but they paid him way too much. Also, I wish he was a lot more mature when it comes to women. Otherwise, that show cracks me up. Love Artie and Robin
Howard who?
Using Stern's name and mature in the same sentence is a perversion of the language. His whole schtick revolves around farts, silicone breasts, strippers, oral sex, and shaved genitals. Cutting edge stuff--for a 13-year-old.
Yup. Potty mouthed and puerile.
Their this thing you see it call shootcast... Look it up it free and can find some pretty interesting things! The best way to access shootcast is with the VLC player. Their plenty of tutorial on youtube but it very simple to setup.
And may I suggest you take a look at the Talk section...

This is BS. I have Dishnetwork and part of their plan is Sirius satellite stations. But guess what? They don't offer Howard Stern. I would even pay a little extra for it but NOOOO, they won't do it. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. No wonder why they're going bankrupt. They have so many options of getting his program out there and make money off of the but they won't do it.
It's like offering a Ferrari without the engine.
Howard, build your own app and start your own streaming service since you own your content.
BTW, Sirius could probably block certain channels on its i-Phone app for the easily scared since they already can do this for their radios and online service. Someone needs to get their IT and Engineering guys together in the same room.
Ok, here's the business plan...
We build a huge sattelite radio station - Done
We rely on subscriptions to fund this expensive venture - Done
We hire the top radio jock in the business (stern) - Done
We pay him tons of dough - Done
We get hundred of thousands of new subscribers because of Stern. - Done
We build this really cool iphone app - Done
We charge extra for the iphone app - Done
We BLOCK OUT the ONLY reason anybody wants to buy the app - Done
We watch our stock plummit to 30 freakin cents - DONE!
The Sirius radio channels offered are mostly gargage any way you look at it. When Howard leaves , that will end satellite radio.
Book Radio (117) sounds like a good idea and it would be if it were under the control of the Canadians or the British. But as it is now, it offers about 50% of scietology crap, about 25% of actual stuff related to books and some old reruns of radio/tv shows. The remaining 25% is geared to 12 year olds (who would not waste time listening to what is offered).
And then the so-called lib-rul channel (146) wastes 10 hours on three of the most uninformed, uneducated, clueless, barely literate so-called talk shows whose hosts probably have never read a book, journal, newspaper or news magazine in their lives. Since Bill Press, Thom Hartmann and Ed Schultz can be heard on terresterial radio so the only reasons to keep Sirius are Howard and Mike Malloy. And the BBC and Nationa Pentagon Radio if you can find a show whose hosts isn't spouting the Bush/Cheney line.
So down with with Sirius Satellite Radio.
Ranting now done.
That is usually the opinion of the uninformed or the biased.
The truth is that Howard Stern has had more influence on the media and entertainment than anyone working in the business today.
The opinion that he is too raunchy or untalented? He's as raunchy as an off-coloured joke book that has been republished after forty years. Talent? Yes. But only as much as the ranter in the bus shelter.
"That is usually the opinion of the uninformed or the biased."
Trite.
Influence or popularity do not denote talent.
I have listened to HS before he went to Sirius, and I even saw "Private Parts"!
I just find what HS does to be pretty much junior-high-humor (i.e., Juvenile)--with exceptions, here and there.
I would never suggest that HS be anything but what he wants to be, or those that still listen and enjoy his show stop.
I understand fully that it is an act--a shtick, as it were--and that HS is a very intelligent, articulate man who has chosen to be entertainer.
I just feel that it does not require a lot of talent to do what he does, but it does require a dedication of self.
I agree people who don't like him just haven't have exposure to his act; sirius is a sinking ship, I had it for a while, but the tech. was spotty at best when it came to quality, radio in general has been dieing over the last 12-16 years...
30 years and counting. Yeah... real talentless....
Madonna has been around just about as long... so is she just as gifted, or are you one of the many Madonna haters who claim she's nothing but a raunchy, talentless whorre who adopts kids for attention? See the point? Just because someone has been around in showbiz a long time, doesn't necessarily mean they are geniuses or everyone must like them and if they don't something is "wrong" with them. Just sayin'....
I'm a Mac user and a Sirius listener with a lifetime membership. I used to listen to Stern and a select few other stations on the free internet applet through Sirius. Once I got my Imac, I wasn't able to use the Sirius net radio, because it wasn't supported through the Mac OS. I downloaded an application called Pulsar that worked like a charm (a onetime lic. fee of $17) , and it has all of the Sirius/XM channels, not just a select few. Much cheaper than paying for the Sirius PREMIUM net subscription every month. I know, a little off topic, but just a heads up for Mac users/Sirius fans.
Genius.
I am/was a huge Howard Stern fan. For year after he went over to Sirius, I downloaded the show (for free) because the downloaded mp3 was a better product...I could listen whenver I wanted, etc. Pause it.
I actually stopped listening last year when I became too busy during the election and his not hating McCain, (I don't know if he ended up supporting or voting for either honestly) made me mad, so I haven't listened in a while but...
If they would put him on the iPhone so I could listen wherever and whenever that might actually be a product worth paying for....
And I never pay for apps on the iPhone, there are so many good free ones, ____ them. Now, I never will.
Prudes.
He voted for Obama. He was very anti-Palin
No way did he vote for Obama. Stern has had issues with Black men for a long time since his days at Roosevelt High. I loves McCain the same way he loves Guiliani. The anti-Palin rant is just a radio schtick. He's rich so why would he vote to have his taxes raised?
I meant he loves McCain not I
Subscriber here--and here's the deal:
Since a few months ago, you CAN'T get Stern via your computer without paying extra--which piss*d me off to no end. So I have to bring my portable unit into the house, a PITA.
But if your radio is built into your car, you're forced to buy another radio and another subscription.
It's gotta be the same deal here. They don't want to offer it on iPhone because that means you wouldn't have to buy that second subscription. But I wouldn't doubt that they decide to offer it at an extra fee.
That's extra money for them, which they can ill afford to pass on.
geezzz.. that sucks, the hard ware is a pain in the neck, there is no way they will survive, in my city the visablity and availbility of the service and it's hard ware has decreased by 95%, so it's a sinking ship, it's obvious that they are having to go back on their word....
