Susan Boyle Cut From Another Concert After Cat Rant

Susan Boyle was dropped from a second Britain's Got Talent concert last night after launching into a bizarre rant over her beloved cat Pebbles.

The distressed singer was seen shouting on the balcony of her eighth floor room which overlooked the atrium at Radisson SAS Hotel in Liverpool on Thursday afternoon.

Her behaviour prompted producers to remove the 48-year-old from the playlist at Thursday's live tour at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

"On this tour SEVEN acts have had days off, TWO others have fluffed their lines- and these don't get reported. WHY? Do people ask for refunds if the other acts don't appear? The media are expecting her to be running marathons when she is just a few days out of hospital. Even seasoned professionals spend months preparing themselves physically and mentally for a tour.
I know the alleged cat incident is a complete fabrication because my nephew works at the hotel. Susan was described to me as a delightful and friendly lady and the hotel staff could not believe the extent to which press and fans were harassing her and how dignified and patient she was. But with fans searching your hotel and banging on your door you are not going to get much sleep to have the energy to perform to the best of your ability.
Susan is new to this game, and the fact that she is doing any of them at all is testament to a great strength of character in my view. OF course there may well be a small section of the media who want to destroy her reputation because its far easier for them to do that than admit they are in the wrong here. Personally I feel the way some sections of the press are behaving is bordering on the criminal and they should be mightily ashamed of themselves."

"What is troublesome about this Susan Boyle story is that Simon's PR people are not counteracting negative, tabloid journalism about her. Apparently they have not clarified to the public that she was not going to perform in more than a handful of shows, nor do they explain that all performers get days off as necessary. I don't think she is pulling out of shows at the last minute, but is following doctor's orders regarding her voice and her health. So why do the show promoters not inform the public ahead of time but let them show up with their tickets? And let the blame fall on Susan. I wonder if they are willing to destroy Boyle's image as a concert performer because she and her family chose Ossie Kilkenney rather than Simon. Apparently she still has the recording contract with Simon
but will pay dearly during this tour because he will not be able to control her beyond that. I think she may have stayed with the tour because she likes to sing and felt some responsibility to the rest of the group, aware that she was the real draw. But on her own sensible terms. Perhaps all the support he is supposedly giving her was to keep her in. So the question is why have the PR people let this get out of hand with stories that have no evidence to bear them out? Vindictiveness I suspect."

Several acts took time off from the tour yet I don't hear you mentioning that. The so called 'cat rant' didn't happen. You copy tabloid trash because Susan Boyle draws attention to you. If you can't investigate on your own and report the facts then please don't post at all.

Do you know that seven other performers have skipped concerts, including Hollie, Aidan Davis, 2 Grand? Why is no one making a big deal out of that? Is it just easier to bash Boyle? Because the majority of the people buying the tickets are buying them to see Diversity and/or Susan Boyle -- they are the main attraction.
When people put out good money for a ticket they expect to see what the pay for.

The point is that the media are exploiting Susan Boyle to capture readers because she's an easy target now. People may be buying tickets to see the top acts, but that doesn't mean a performer has to do or die, does it? People have been offered their money refunded, and in any performance situation, that's all you can do.

Back to Square 1. The title & 3 paragraphs printed above are unsubstantiated rumor, presented as fact. The source of the Mail article is the tabloid Mirror. Now: What is the name of the person who observed the strange behavior? How did the Mirror find out about it? If the story was called in, how did the Mirror verify it? If the reporter was called to the scene, why is there no picture? Who "cut" Susan Boyle? What is the name of the person who reported that she was "cut"? There is absolutely no documentation for this story.

I'm not suggesting the story be censured, but it should be presented with proper qualifying words: "rumored", "reported, "claimed", or something similar need to be added to every statement regarding Susan Boyle's behavior.

I had thought the HuffPost was a reliable source of information. After this, I wonder in what other areas, such as politics and economics, they have such an inability to distinguish fact from phoniness.

A lot of people sing really well. I don't get the fascination with her. I know I am in the minority.

All your comments are valid, so let me address them as best I can. The initial fascination was the element of surprise that someone who looked so little like a conventional star could sing so well. The audition video was skillfully edited to tell a story that moved millions of people. Some people call that manipulation; others call it art.

As Susan's technical ability improves with each performance more & more people admire it--both the clear pure high notes, the reverberating lower ones, the effortless breath control, and all in perfect pitch. In addition there appears to be an unusual timbre to her voice that is not found elsewhere, although an audio engineer might be able to detect it. This is what gives many people goosebumps or shivers In live performances her stage presence has been called charismatic or electrifying. Below is the link to a clip from a cell phone of her most recent performance at Newcastle. There's no element of surprise here, but the crowd still goes wild.

You still may not enjoy her singing, but I've tried to explain why some of us find it exceptional.

I read where she was deprived of oxygen at birth, and as a result, had a learning disability.

Like I said, the talented lady has "issues". Eventually, she will cut a CD and rarely perform live, but since she is under contract, I believe to Cowell, he wants to get as much money as possible out of her before she has a total collaspe. And, as I said, why do you think he publically apologized to her in the last show before a winner was picked? Because, the scouts from his show recruited her, which she admitted to in an interview. The show searched her out and it wasn't that she just one day traveled to the show to audtion. He also knew that she needed to be checked in to a mental facility because she needed her head shrunk for a few days before he put her out there to produce for him. He's a real Svengali.
