I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz graced the cover of "Marie Claire" this month to promote her upcoming film "My Sister's Keeper," but spent more time discussing her commitment to the environment:

"It's the planet, you know what I mean? She should be the one--she should be a star. How do we make this little planet of ours a big star? I want everybody to know who she is."

For the cover story, Diaz invited "Marie Claire" staffers to travel around the country with her while she worked on her documentary about what environmental worries plague Americans the most. The result is a short and sweet video in which Diaz questions everyone from a man in supermarket parking lot to a White House special advisor about their hopes and fears for the planet.

Thank you Cameron--love the intro profile photo skin. However, please realize that celebrity soap-box photo-ops are inconsequential to the human condition. Either be a movie star or dedicate your life to saving the planet--can't do both.

That's ridiculous! Of course she can do both. I love to see celebs using their status to bring attention to critical matters...particularly the environment (Leo, Ed Norton, etc, etc).

She may mean well - but it's hard to take her seriously. I mean if things get too hot or there's some other problem - we all know she (and her kind) can just jet off to somwhere - or by a new mansion or whatever. She has no worries - and therefore, really no credibility....IMO

Cameron has her sphere of influence...and she's going to reach them to some degree, which is a good thing. You may be beyond the basic awareness that she's trying to bring to people, but hating on someone for being rich is kind of weak, don't ya think? It's probably more her lack of expertise that you're referring to (hopefully)...but again, she's reaching some people that just don't think about these things period. I think she's doing a great thing. She alone isn't going to save the planet obviously. It'll take others stepping up and making a difference. What is it that you have done to contribute?

Short sighted, Dave. A person's profession does not exclude one from the human condition or worldy concern. The issues are hotter than any of us know. Bringing awareness is great! Go Cameron, Go!!

What! fumes supports Cameron's cause. Is she capable of melting his icy denial?

Quite sad. Idiocracy in the making. Large part of the nation, celebs-driven and challenged by attention deficit, cannot listen to scientists or engineers, and cannot read anything but celebs blabber.

As any other mass media, Huffington Post goes along and devotes large part of the web site to celebs news.

So you go to a site that you obviously have no interest in to complain? Hmmm.... attention deficit disorder

Anything we do to improve our world is good.

Quiet acts. A few minutes contributed, can have huge effects upon the world.

People are waking up. Every action taken by an individual is mirrored by many others. When one person contributes it's felt by others, moving them to act. We're all connected.

A butterfly can start a hurricane.

Number of headlines on HP devoted to celebs is not normal, not healthy, HP just go along with lowest ways to get attention.

I cant even imagine how many comments were refused posting on this one! Heads must be popping right off shoulders everywhere. Ms. Diaz is deemed to be the best choice to communicate on this subject?!

I don't think we need to whittle it down to a singular "the best choice" to carry this message. I think the more spokespeople for the environment there are, and the greatest variety that they represent, the better. Why would you ever want someone committed to the earth to not try to raise awareness?

It's OK for Ms. Dias to say whatever she wants. But attention to her words shows stupidity of large part of population.

Great video and kudos to Cameron Diaz for putting it out there. Environmental awareness and action is all about education - the more people know the more they will be compelled to do something (change their habits, get more active, etc.). If you want to know more about energy: http://www.dasolar.com
Cheers!

Some of the people whom Ms. Diaz interviewed engaged in actions like community organizing. (Rudy Giuliani laughs at the thought of community organizing and Sarah Palin belittles it)

Yeah and it is Van Jones who is in the white house advising Obama on green issues. What ever happened to Giuli? Well who really cares. I know Sarah Palin is auditioning for the Jerry Springer Show.
