New York Times:

People on the government's terrorist watch list tried to buy guns nearly 1,000 times in the last five years, and federal authorities cleared the purchases 9 times out of 10 because they had no legal way to stop them, according to a new government report.

Our own Government is so paranoid they put returning soilders from Iraq on the watch list along with anybody who does not agree with there logic, or lack there of. Lets demand all of Congress to be audited and to take a piss test so that we know they are worthy of working for us, then maybe they won't be so afraid of us.

Most governments are afraid of their people, here in the U.S. people are afraid and suspicious of the government!

That statement is ludicrous. I am not afraid of my government at all. You are paranoid. Also I think protesters in Iran fear their government more, I think North Koreans fear their government more, I think people in China fear their government more. Hate to break it to you but people here probably fear right wing racist fanatics spewing socialism talk far more than they fear this government. We do have US born terrorists you know. Dead abortion doctor ring a bell, how about dead security officer at the Holocaust museum, or Timothy McVeigh and that crowd.

Not all returning veterans have given DHS cause for concern.

Look, was Tim McVeigh not a veteran?

It isn't impossible that a domestic t errorist is a veteran.

"The list" was created by power abusing Republicans. You are afraid now because you think the Dems are as bad as you are and will abuse their power for personal and political ends when they should be focused on national security.

I would say the kool-aid is that there's a real difference between the parties. Just as long as you donate large sums to both sides, you'll be guaranteed a cut of the action.

I'm always amazed at the antigun whiners that come out of the woodwork at the first mention of guns. The rush to demonize and vilify the NRA, legal gun owners, hunters, collectors, and competition shooters is a joke - shameful even. It's our right to own firearms, guaranteed by the Constitution. You know, the same Constitution that allows people to speak freely and make uneducated, irrational, stupid statements, and continuously make asses out of themselves.

The NRA is an organization that anti gunners really don't know anything about, other than what they've heard second hand from the anti gun talking heads, kinda like Rush bashers who never actually listen to Rush. Do the research, educate yourselves.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:40 PM on 06/20/2009

any mention of regulation is grounds to set the NRA's hair afire. they're victims with guns. and one need only a cursory listen to limbaugh, o'reilly, hannity, colter, et al, to know that they view facts as the enemy and they are the antithesis of Christian values.

re-education yourself.

The Constitution states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Since most Anti-Americans, I mean Anti-Gunners have never read the constitution, oop there it is. Notice that it is the right of the People to keep and bear Arms, not the right of the Militia, but the right of the People. That is us, the American citizens, now go back to kissing your Obama poster and trash talking Republicans. Me, I'm an Independent.

Maybe it's a person who Voted straight Democrat on a Dibold Machine, bought a Firearm, and wrote a political letter to a Newspaper. It's a secret.
Thats the problem with secret List, secret Police , Seret Arrest and trials.

Yes, this is the "freedom" brought to us by the right.

I remember when I was a kid during the red scare and cold war. They said "The communists will make lists... The communists will spy on you..." That is what we have to fight against.

Then the conservatives turned us into what we thought we were fighting all those years.

I am a gun owner I'm retired military, Does this put me on a list? That lists stuff is so much crap, Ill be t 9.5 folks on the list are nothing more than folks who spoke out against Boosh . What a night mare that jerk left us with.... God someone please do someting . I am wondering why we didn't do something like the Iranians are doing wen Boosh stole the election... We should be better off today. Ben Franklinin 1774 said it:"wen a nation sacrifices liberty for security will have neither"! An Boosh Proved him to be correct.

BTW....? i agree with you about taking to the streets after 2000, but if we have a media that doesn't pay attention, what would it have counted. I was part of the hundreds of thousands, if not millions who were part of street demonstrations before the Iraq war began. A lot of good it did. Media ignored us for the most part. Media loves a demonstration in OTHER countries.

I think it's pretty clear judging from the people who have been revealed as being on the list, the reasons that have been used to explain why they got put on the list and how those people are treated, that the "Terrorist Watch List" has some purpose other than watching terrorists. Too bad the mainstream corporate media accepts everything at face value and investigative journalism is dead.

And THAT is a reason!!! my gawd. But don't worry folks, everybody and their dog can pack loaded weapons...we are a country totally out of control. Many think we are in the 1800s. Uncivilized. Why shouldn't the terrorist list folks be allowed guns...the NRA and the American Gun Peddlers no doubt encourage it.

“We’re concerned about the quality and the integrity of the list,” said Andrew Arulanandam, a spokesman for the National Rifle Association. “There have been numerous studies and reports questioning the integrity, and we believe law-abiding people who are on the list by error should not be arbitrarily denied their civil rights” under the Second Amendment."

This is the same group of people that would keep someone detained at Gitmo indefinitely because they "might" be a terrorist.

Worse than that they want to keep people locked up they know are innocent because after kidnapping them they don't want them released in America so until another country agrees to take these innocent people the solution is just keep them imprisoned.

This is the problem with abuses of power like the so-called "Patriot Act", NRA!

The main thing is every American has at least one AK47, high powered rifle and a half dozen hand guns for their own protection. After listening to Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Frank Gaffney and reading some of these blogs it seems apparent that less than half the population is totally house broken.

Unfortunately for your argument, most people who have a gun in their homes end up being shot by it or having it injure or kill someone in the home by accident. Check out the statistics if you don't believe me.

And everyone that has a gun in their homes absolutely believes that it won't happen to them.
