Anyone who votes "no" or acts in someway to kill this bill needs to be out of a job next time around. Centrist Democrats need to be replaced by REAL Democrats...you know, the ones who actually vote for what the people WANT.
Mrs. Feinstein.
No serious person can question your record on health care. However it seems the the "moderate" wing of the D-party is where the bottle neck is.
If we have polls out showing that 72%-76% of Americans saying yes to a public option, how can the few stop a government of the people, by the people, for the people.
What happen?
It is not rocket science. If you give the public universal healthcare, healthcare for EVERYONE, be it funded 100% by the government via a single-payer scheme or be it a combination scheme with government funding a certain percentage and private insurers, more heavily regulated, providing a top-up portion via employers, Medicare and Medicaid become redundant. Why is he talking about taxing those benefits in order to raise revenue for this scheme? These programs should be eliminated and the revenues needed for their funding be channeled into the new healthcare plan, then less revenues will have to be raised, but only initially. Also, he needs to grow a pair and come clean about one thing - funding for universal healthcare will have to entail a rise in taxes. It's how Europe, Canada and Australia fund their programs. There simply MUST be a government option. It's the done thing!

The American people have too often acted like docile lambs when confronted with one government abuse after another. Consider the stealing of the 2000 election by Bushboy. Where were the outraged citizens?
Consider the Bush lies and lack of evidence justifying war with Iraq in 2002? Where were the protests?
Consider the Democratic Party's knuckling under to the rich and powerful Health Insurance lobbyists regarding single-payer healthcare. Why aren't people flooding Congress with our demands?
I guess, you have to look to Iran, to find people who actually care about who is governing them.
There is absolutely no logic to any democrat not voting for the people's wish for reformed healthcare. Only money. If the democrats let us down on this one, we have got to get to work on getting them out of office. Somehow, politicians have got to learn that the vote is more powerful than the dollar or we will continue to come out on the losing end.
With any luck, Feinstein won't have the votes to win re-election.
she didn't say that she wasn't voting for it. she said she wasn't sure there were enough votes to pass it. you would just toss her out for stating an opinion? nice!!
Ok, so she hasn't voted against it yet. I guess her corporate handlers have just asked her to start poisoning the well.
since her support of mukassy, i don't think many people really care what she says or thinks
Isn't Feinstein a senior Senator with some leadership pull?
She should resign her posts in leadership as she and Harry Reid cannot control their own caucus.
We should focus on increasing our Congressional lead in 2010 and leave the Senate, the DNC and Obama to fend for themselves.
I have seen a strong no "bowing of heads" to republicans progressive caucus in the house.
The Senate has been dragging their feet for 3 years now.
Mrs. Feinstein - you have no spin, otherwise you would come out loud and clear on the side of the public option and not hide behind the pathetic excuse that it will not pass, so let's not waste time trying!
Why is this lady wasting her time talking about the possiblity that it will not pass, instead of putting every ounce of effort into making sure this passes? If she and her flaky friends were really listening to the people she (and her friends) would be putting her full weight behind the public option. If it doesn't pass at least she stood with the people, the people she represents, and not the few special interests knocking at her back door.
WHY HAS SHE BEEN SO QUIET WHEN IT COMES TO TORTURE.
She was briefed in detail.
She saw video
When are Californians going to vote this h@g out of office?
Ma'am... you seem to be C Y A
Well, for me that's just fine; frnakly, whatever they come out with in congress will be a watered-down half measure that would do more harm than good.
As the CBS poll indicates, the majority support for a single-payer system is real, and we shouldn't settle for less.
A defeat for this current attempt at faux-reform could be what is needed to get people off the couch and into the streets.
We need to be honest with ourselves: healthcare insurers are OBSOLETE; they no longer serve any viable purpose other than to siphon-off profit from sick people who do not need them.
Feinstein is undoubtedly for healthcare reform, guys. She's simply commenting on the reality in the Senate.
They backed his stimulus plan and got burned. They backed his budget and got burned. They backed the GM plan and got burned.
If he'd been reasonable about the stimulus, we might not see this turn against by the Dems.
That's absurd; there is no way any of the republicans were EVER going to support any kind of healthcare reform.
Yes, and believe me Ann is a reliable source. LOL
Feinstein's caving to her corporate benefactors, period. Good luck with your gubernatorial ambitions Diane. Hey, maybe Ann will vote for you!
