There is anger here today! Turn it into something useful like firing all these clowns.

We need to write and call our senators to let them know public option/single payer MUST be part of the bill they send to the president. So many are screaming the president needs to fight harder and show some he’s fighter, we'll it's time for us to do what we're asking the president to do. He can't get this done if we don't put the pressure on the house and senators.

The following senators are on the committee that will determine if we have a public option in the health bill they produce for the president. The democrats are buckling under pressure from the lobbyist to present a bill without a public option. This means those without insurance will continue not to have insurance.

Harry Reid,

Is it just me or are these Senators almost aging right in front of our EYES!

They have never had their Campaign Funding placed SO WIDELY in the MEDIA before and been so clearly linked to Wall Street, Insurance, and Health Care Providers.

It must be VERY EMBARRASSING for those that have any FEELINGS or want to be Re-Elected!

Listen to how the statement is phrased coming from Feinstien's mouth: "OBAMA doesn't have the votes to pass health care"

I'm not going to attack Feinstein, but we will need serious serious action to get this government to do what is best for the citizens.

Maybe we will have to burn down some insurance company headquarters for them to get the picture.

we all understand your frustration.
the insurance company is pure evil. why?

Millions uninsured. thousands die each year because of the lack of insurance.
Make that 22,000 uninsured deaths | Physicians for a National Health Program - http://www.pnhp.org/news/2008/january/make_that_22000_uni.php
Millions have gone bankrupt and they HAD insurance. because the insurance companies deny coverage, ie. rationing. In addition, the insurance companies wait for you to get sick and then they dump you and then they don't pay for your illness. they collect your premiums when you are well, and then dump you when you get sick.
Health insurers refuse to limit rescission of coverage - http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-rescind17-2009jun17,0,3508020,full.story

But we still have months before the October deadline to make sure the politicians know they work for us. And we're not right-wing nutjobs, so let's be calm and rational. I know you don't really mean it, but we should be concise and logical.

The President needs to tell the Congress and the Cabinet if you don't pass Universal Health Care for Americans I'll use my power as President to take your Health Care away from all of you.

This is not Pres. Obama fault at all, I said this from the get go. The Dems senators would be Obama's worst enemy. My nightmare has come true. They don't want to close Gitmo, they are against public option, Democrats are really no better than Republicans. The only thing difference is that the Democrats are the lesser of two evils. This is why Pres. Obama has backtracked on some of his promises. The Dems in the senate are really against Obama agenda. He needs the votes to he had to accept watered down legislations. Thank heavens I'm a independent but still wholeheartedly support Pres. Obama. I voted for him and will vote for him again in 2012.

Yes its all the Dems fault and Obama can't be at fault...oh wait I just remembered, Obama is a Dem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama isn't a leader, and this is clearly showing it. He has no clue on how to pass legislation, and his "advisors" have been no help. Glad to see he hasn't dissapointed me in the last two years. All talk, no substance.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:18 PM on 06/21/2009

maybe you have not noticed but the US government is composed of three separate but equal branches

legislative------makes the laws(congress)

executive------ makes sure law is enacted(presidency)

judiciary----assesses behavior based on the law.

the president can push an agenda but if congress pushes back he may as well push on a string-------- bush had the benefit of a rubber stamp congress--- on both sides.

then there is "we the people"" ensconced in their comfort zone or as usual ready to willingly vote against their best interests.

I think Diane is actually saying that Obama doesn't have her vote to pass healthcare. I love it the way the Democrats keep pulling the rug out from underneath their own President. "I don't think he can." "We can't" "We're not capable."

Well if this government can no longer function then it needs to be dismantled because we are becoming a second class power incapable of fixing anything and Senators like Diane Fienstein and her attitude are the problem.

Thank you Jazzman, for your wise words. As for Feinstein, ... perhpas she needs to become unemployed by the voters in her district to learn what it is like to be without healthcare, ...

Oh that's right, she gets it for life.

Therein lies the problem!

Diane Feinstein has been a disgrace to California for years. She is frequently on the wrong side of issues that matter of the people of this state but as long as we keep electing her...The problem is that the Democratic Party won;t run anyone against her so we get a choice between DiFi and some lame GOP stooge who would be worse then Feinstein. When it comes to funding the Pentagon, Congress and the Senate always manage. When it comes to anything else we usually get some ridiculous compromise that manages to bastardize the original concept but gives our so called leaders a chance to thump their chests and brag about biparisanship. The US legislature needs revoke its own healthcare until they can figure out how to provide care for their constituents. These people don;t deserve a salary let along healthcare and other fringe benefits.

Trouble is the party can't get anyone to run against these powerful Reps and Senators so the only way to get them out of office is to vote the other party in. That's not a good idea. So what to do?

How about we try to publicize all the help these folks get from big donors?

and what these donors get in exchange. Defending your actions is time consuming and embarrassing.

Obama does not have the votes, Sen. Feinstein says and, of course, she is correct. But her colleagues in Congress do have the votes - that's why we put them there - but won't use them. Let's lay this canard to rest. Can we all, each in our own state, get in touch with our representatives and ask them for an "up or down" answer on two simple questions.
1. Will you vote for a competitive, comprehensive public option?
2. Will you vote for a single payer system?
Then report back to HP, find a the most recent list and update it with the responsess you got.
In this way we can conduct our own poll and not be put off by vague "we don't have the votes" excuses and we will know which representatives to support, convince or dump.
I live in CA and I am going to put these questions to Sen. Feinstein.

I would ask while they are voting for a public single payer option for healthcare for all citizens, would they also please vote for a private education voucher choice as an option for all students. We could finally kill two birds weighing this country down with one stone. These two options should be a part of the same bill. We can only hope.

Why is it fair to call Obama a fraud? Because he preached CHANGE and he is changing NOTHING. To those that still carry his water and exclaim with inane regularity, 'It's only been 4 months, give him a break!", well gang, the honeymoon is over, and let me tell you this: I don't have to watch an entire movie to find out it's a BAD movie. I usually can tell in the first 20 - 30 minutes if not sooner. Then I watch the rest HOPING that it will get better. But the bad movies NEVER do. We just keep watching hoping it does. OBAMA is a BAD movie. BUSH was a BAD slasher flick. But Obama was billed as "Gone With The Wind", and I'm sensing it's more like "Goonies II".

I'm sorry Obama lovers, I voted for him, but I sensed RIGHT AWAY a change in his rhetoric once he was elected; and ever since its been a hard tack to the right and nothing accomplished. On just about every single issue he has caved or switched to the status quo and the public, thinking times were about to change, have no idea how BADLY they are about to change.

Obama, you're ONE and DONE.

And yes, I'm a progressive, college educated, self employed, father of four, married Democrat.

It's time for Obama to use some of his capital. He has to stand for something publicly and call for it publicly -- not just to small special interest groups. What happened to all the talk about his campaign being a different campaign -- more beholden to "the people."

Reagan certainly did, the rich got richer, the poor got poorer and the homeless record hit an all time high. Education was closed to many minorities and the poor with fewer government assistant programs. The high infant mortality rate was equal to those in some of the third world countries.

If PO wanted to fight for the rich he would be as successful as RR, because it's the rich that are controlling the senate/dems and fighting to keep the politicians in line.

Agreed Golfer, but we got we got and we have to work with it best we can. Remember the AIG bonus scandal a couple months ago? The phones rang off the hook in Congress and at the White House. People were outraged and extremely vocal. If folks can muster up that level of outrage about this issue that is so much more important and a much bigger heist on the American public, we can force the change we were promised.

Everyone pick up the phone and call the members of this committee, Sebelius' office and the White House and DEMAND UNIVERSAL SINGLE PAYER! It is now or never.

Dept of HHS phone is 1-877-696-6775
Max Baucus is 202-224-2651
Finance committee is (202) 224-4515
White House is 202-456-1414

Other committee member contacts can be found here:
http://finance.senate.gov/sitepages/committee.htm

They weigh a phone call as many times more significant than an email. Jam their phone lines!

In 2000 the majority of Americans voted for Al Gore for president (including Florida). The election was stolen by Bush and his Republican gang of thugs and the American people did nothing about it.
Now an election has been stolen in Iran, and the Iranian people are putting their lives at risk protesting against this theft.
In 2009, the vast majority of American people want singlepayer, public healthcare, and the lobby-ridden, lobby-shills in the Congress refuse to vote it in.
Isn't it time Americans began protesting int he streets too?

There is just so much contradiction going on here. The US spends 17 percent of its GDP on health care, far more than any competing nation, yet a system that would actually work is too expensive for us to afford.

A public option on health care is too expensive, but we can't have it because it would be so efficient that current providers would be priced out of business. Why on earth are we rejecting solutions because they would work too well?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:36 PM on 06/21/2009

And since the majority of Americans have said they would pay higher taxes in order to get a public option, it looks like this is all just one more talking point!

If they fail to pass any reform, insurance companies will be bankrupt by 2011, when the baby boomers become eligible for medicare and no longer buy private policies! And with the way unemployment keeps going, the rest of us won't be able to afford private health insurance!

That's why the insurance companies are lobbying for a mandate with no public option! It's an insurance bailout!
