With the money we pay them they should be paying for their own healthcare anyway. They don't work nearly hard enough to earn it on their own.

And we continue to pay their insurance for their entire lives once they retire, but we can't get health care? I'm sick and tired of government as usual! When no one can afford their insurance, they will mandate it to get more customers for their corporate cronies!

So 76% of American people want a public option and the majority of Americans are willing to pay higher taxes to get it -- yet the senate doesn't know how they will pay for it?

WTF!????? We voted the republicans out because the democrats promised us that they would work for the people! If they aren't going to do it, then what's the difference between a republican or a democrat?

Seems to me that if they mess this up, they will have a buttload of angry Americans on their hands! After 8 years of TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION, WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!!!

I've emailed my state senators, Baucus, Landrieu, Conrad, and whitehouse.gov. And I've called all their offices! IF THEY DON'T PASS A PUBLIC OPTION, THEY HAD BETTER NOT PASS ANYTHING AT ALL!

Insurance companies will go belly up on their own in 2011 and we will all get the public option, because the government will have no choice!

Instead of whining about it get off your butt and get the votes we need. Or else go home and get out of the way.

We need to protest everyone. If we can't get the same type of health benefits those we vote into office get then we need to strip them of that privilege. We cannot let them take this away from us. We vote these people into office and they are refusing to give us the same privilege so I say we need to take it away from them. Lets see how they do with NO health insurance or one they have to pay an arm and a leg for.

We need to march on Washington and we need to do it now!!!

If you can't afford to get to DC go and protest at their local office - that way you could probably get some local media coverage.

The current situation to me is... by definition.... elitist.

What's she's really saying is that we're afraid -- we're afraid to do what's necessary to help the people because we might not be able to raise enough money to get re-elected.

That's all they care about -- their re-election! They are cowards! Their jobs (as far as they are concerned) are to get re-elected and pass everything thing onto the next generation!

If you can't pass a public option, don't pass anything at all. Single payer will eventually be necessary, as the entire insurance industry will fall apart when the baby boomers retire and are eligible for Medicare any way! It's why the insurance companies are fighting so hard for a mandate, but no public option. They would welcome 45 million customers and the republicans and a few democratic senators would love to hand them over!

WHAT GOOD DOES GAINING ALL THE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE WORLD BUT LOSE THE ELECTION?

As fervently as we voted to get the republicans out, we can vote out these democrats in a primary! Republicans think that they will win if they prevent health care reform with a public option -- they think the American people will blame the President. They always forget about the internet and video!

if they don't have the votes for healthcare...then maybe they won't have the votes for re-election.
we're paying for bailed out banks, insurance & car companies...i don't understand why they won't let us pay for healthcare.

Throw all the bums out...get term limits and let them look for a job with benefits.

Time to march on Washington.

If we learned nothing else from the Bush-Cheney administration, it's that you can sell anything to the American people with the right sales pitch.

The only reason that single payer universal health care wouldn't become law is if Obama and Democrats either don't want it to pass or aren't adept at creating a sales pitch.

So which is it? Because if it's that they don't know how to sell it, it's time to get new people into office who do know how.

Why don't we schedule the protest for the day of the vote. Does anyone know the date they're suppose to vote on healthcare?

Whaddya mean he doesn't have the votes? i thought the Dems had a big majority in both houses!

The Dems have gotta grow a pair! It's payback time for republics.

70% of the electorate is for a public healthcare option...get it done and let's move on Dems.

Well yeah, but there are 10-15 types of dems, and none agree with the others.

Dems are the party of "everyone else"

I think the folks of this country may need to take a lesson from the Iranian people on this one. We need to protest our government for the things we want them to do on our behalf.

9 times out of 10 none of our doctors are going to jump ship to work in another country so if that be the case then who are we trying to protect. Without a healthy population we are doomed. The influence of the lack of health care for all on the economy is going to be devastating to say the least. If anyone comes down with a new and deadly disease and we don't catch it until too late then kiss your butt good bye.

Her comments on State of the Union were mentioned in another story in the NYTIMES.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/22/health/policy/22healthcare.html?hp

Grassley said he "might consider" revising his plan to get more support (so I guess he does read the papers). He and Baucus can go on revising for as long as they wish; nothing acceptable could possibly ooze from those brains.

Senator Feinstien.... WE hear you loud and clear....

DO WE the People get it that NEITHER of the Two Dominant Political Parties actually work for the Voters??? Polls clearly show the Voters by 70% + desire a a Single Payer Public Plan... Clearly, with both Parties, Corporate "contributions " (Legally NOT bribes) get voting preference over Voters...

Corporate Votes are overuling Public Votes is what is being spun as "the Votes aren't there"... First WE need to dump the Just say NO to the Public, Republican Party, overall and then go after the Corporate Paid Democrats...

It's now or never for the healthcare reform. Any democrats who voted against the reform should be voted out. Lucky for these congress people we the tax payers are paying for their healthcare. If you think about it they have been using public option. Have you heard them waiting for a long time to see their doctor? No. Having work with the healthcare industry if I lose my job my coverage will be gone. I don't mind paying for medical coverage knowing that if I lose my job my coverage will never go away. Public option is a way to go.

Emails are much less effective than phone calls. There is actually a weighing system they use and a phone call is worth thousands of emails. They pay attention when their switchboards overload. We need to jam their d.amn phone system!

PICK UP THE PHONE PEOPLE and demand SINGLE PAYER!

Also, take a look at HR 676, introduced by John Conyers in the House.
http://www.healthcare-now.org/hr-676/

Scroll down and check to see if your congressional rep is among the 75 co-sponsors on the bill. CALL YOUR REP if they are not listed as co-sponsors on the bill. Ask them WHY?!!! If they are on the list, call them and thank them for supporting the bill. Tell them you will not let up and you want them to keep fighting.

Find your congressional rep's phone number by going here:
