First Dad: Obama's Cutest Fathering Moments (SLIDESHOW)

Huffington Post   First Posted: 07/22/09 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:30 PM ET

The President of the United States is an important job, but nothing comes close to being a dad. When Barack Obama isn't meeting with politicians or courting the press, or slipping away for the occasional date night, he's hanging out with his daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 8. To celebrate this Father's Day, we've assembled an album of Obama's cutest dad moments. From rollerskating to vacationing in Hawaii to running after Bo, this looks like one family we'd like to be adopted into.

I love President Obama with his daughters. I have that relationship with my dad. He's one of my best friends. He still calls me his "baby girl." Many times black men are mostly perceived as being absent from the lives of their children. My daddy has always been their for me. And the majority of my black friends always had their dads in their lives. Unfortunately, its not shown often enough to the world. Show them Mr. President.

I've never seen someone so physically affectionate with their children. Especially a dad with his daughters. I never had that with my dad and I hope if I ever have children I would find someone who loves their kids so unconditionally.

President Obama is a father who loves his children. It's wonderful to see that.

Mr. President,
As I said, you're adorable. But we sorely need universal healthcare, wall st regulations, REAL equal rights for gays, REAL environmental laws...get to it! You are loved...but don't let us down!

I'm sure that kids in Afghanistan and Iraq thinks he's a great dad, too.

And the American ones whose parents can't afford health insurance -- and won't, as Dad-in-Chief and the Democrats cave in to the insurance lobby -- or whose families have lost their houses and jobs.

And how about the kids in New Orleans, where a great rebuilding program could put roofs over their heads and food on the table?

It's time for a third party. A real progressive party. And I'm speaking as a life-long Democrat who voted for Obama.

Let's be realistic, do you think a newly formed progressive party will ever get a majority??? His moments with his children are not canceling out work toward health care and rebuilding New Orleans, that would be the stubborn Republicans and right wing crazies, a new Progressive Party isn't going to eliminate them, and will spread the votes even thinner, even less will get done!!!! Stop throwing around cliches and get to work protesting the current second party that is standing in the way of anything good in our country. This partisan crap is sending us right down the toilet, no third party will solve that.

Thanks cnick for your comments to Mid-Westerner. No matter what anyone does, there is someone else who is in a completely different situation. As many eat breakfast this morning, there are just as many who will not--not because of dieting or rushing to get to work, but because there is nothing to eat. There are "opposites" for everything.

President Obama is trying to end conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan; he's trying to get health insurance for all; he's trying to turn the economy around--who's not helping? People in opposition, just for opposition's sake. A third party? Will that be a group in opposition, just for opposition's sake, too? If ever there were a time for unity, it is now, but some will fight and fight changes just for fighting's sake.

When I look at these pictures, I remember how my father used to twirl us around, play "sleepingmonster", and joke around. My g-pa never did that stuff with his children. I feel proud that my father was a Barack-Dad. Every dad should be a Barack-Dad. I miss him. He died in 2005. If you have a father that loves to take you fun places, spins you around and makes you laugh, and you are happy when he comes home from work, appreciate him.

Happy Father's Day. :)

That's quite the stink-eye Sasha's giving in #2. Now we know where Michelle got the look she gave Sarkozy's wife a little while back!

How the h-e-ck did he and McCain get around the U.S. constitutional requirements for president? Obama knows the law - after all, he is a licensed attorney. Uh duh? Whatchoo got? NEXT...
