Abortion Protest Leaves Tiller Clinic To Avoid Confrontation

A possible confrontation over abortion never came to pass Saturday as opposing groups convened at noon at different locations.

About 30 abortion opponents met at the headquarters of Operation Rescue on East Central for a memorial service and to pray for what they called healing from the shooting death of Wichita abortion provider George Tiller.

I donated to Planned Parenthood in Dr. Tiller's memory over the weekend. This was my choice, not in response to an organized campaign from Planned Parenthood. They have a tab on their website that lets you give in honor or in memory of someone. I never met Dr. Tiller but I mourn his loss.

To paraphrase a famous saying, the only way for the fanatics and the zealots and the haters to win is if reasonable people stand aside and do nothing.

If you call yourself pro-life and you disagree with the monster who murdered a helpless man, if you call yourself pro-life and you're disgusted by the fanatics cheering his murder, then don't just think it. Do something to oppose their unconscionable actions.

If you call yourself pro-choice and you're disgusted or saddened by Dr. Tiller's murder, don't just complain about it. Take action to make sure that all women have access to the health care they need. Thanks.

The sheer hubris of these sanctimonious, self-righteous, religious extremist is staggering. They're outside of clinics, taking video footage of people going in & out, confront, women as they enter & exit the clinic, verbally harassing them, calling them names.

But they finally got what they wanted. Oh, the majority of these people will of course deny that they wanted Dr. Tiller dead. They'll decry what happened as a "tragedy". They said they moved their protest because they're "not interested in confrontation". What a load of cr@p. They've been into nothing BUT confrontation all this time, doing their best to shame women into not going into these clinics, and verbally assaulting them when they leave. But now suddenly they're not interested in confrontation?!?

Now that someone has finally done what some of them have been advocating for so long, namely "dealing" with one of their hated enemies, they are trying to backpedal & distance themselves from that person. They're trying to put on the mantle of the "good Christian" again. Attempting to be contrite & claiming that "This is a time of healing and life". Do they actually think that anybody with half a brain is going to swallow that load of bull? Trying to claim that now is a time of healing & life after one of your own has just gunned down a doctor is about as transparently disingenuous as you can be.
