When are we going to see US and British politicians involved in the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq and killing 1.7 million people, mostly women and children and displacing many millions more, subjected to the same fate?

Or are these trials only for so-called Third World leaders.

Professor Dr. Stanley Collymore.

With Rwanda, the global community broke its promise that was made after the Holocaust of, "Never Again."

Apparently "Never Again" means only "at least not for another generation."

It would be nice to see human rights struggles against violent repression in the Sudan, the Congo, etc receive 1/20th the press coverage the Palestinian/Israeli conflict gets.

Not that this conflict DOESN'T deserve press coverage, I just don't understand why when it comes to African nations, the world has such an easy time looking the other way.

They don't have anything the United States need. Simply. We get our oil from the Middle East. We have interest in the Middle East. Therefore, we will try to keep the peace so our resources keep flowing. I will say that one of the best things Bush did was give more aid than so many other Presidents to African countries in the midst of conflicts. He also did not publicize this. Only thing I really respect him for.

It's true, I mean, of course it's true. It's just that I would think when a humanitarian issue becomes as LARGE as it has in cases like Rwanda and the Sudan, one would think we would overcome out "what's in it for us" mentality and actually give a damn. Another good example is Haiti. They've been BEGGING for US help in stabelizing their government for years, but sadly for the Haitians there is nothing on their island that we want.

And I completely agree on the Bush thing, in that his increasing aid to Africa, especially in terms of AIDS relief, is also probably the only decision of his I respected.
