While cash-strapped city drivers gripe at the sight of $115 tickets on their windshields, Egypt once again leads the deadbeat list of nations with diplomats who think they can park anywhere with impunity.

No more tickets, tow the cars, or at least put a boot on them. They may not need to pay the fines, but the hassle of going to impound or waiting for them to take the boot of may help.

i'm told that if you own income property that people in the diplomatic service are the very last people you want to have as tenants. because of diplomatic immunity, if your place gets trashed you have very few resources to collect any sort of damages from them.

Egypt receives one of the largest foreign aid packages. They should be forced to pay. Obviously they are laughing at the New York City Parking regulations and any fines. Soak them at the source. Cut their aid until they pay their back fines.

I was in Cairo for two months. Traffic is absolutely crazy, no speed limits, no signs, and a few lights downtown Cairo that no one pays attention to. Along with the traffic there are horse and donkey carts..and pedestrians walking on the streets. Cairo has a bad reputation for traffic accidents..but no one seemed to care. For me, being in a car was maddening!

The U. S. does not collect any taxes or rent for all the U. N. properties and the U. S. has been assessed fully 25% of the total UN member dues. The corruption and waste of money and the total lack of accountability of the UN on financial matters warrants witholding of the fees, as does the fact that the United States should not have to pay the amount of fees arbitrarily assessed to it. China should have to pay twice what they pay, as should Russia and the oil-rich countries of the Middle East pay a pittance.

I am not a bigot or racist trash. I have traveled in Egypt and Kuwait, and my son has worked in Nigeria and the countries all have no sense of traffic laws or driving. They park anywhere and everywhere in Egypt and in Nigeria and they have traffic death rates several times higher as well. In Kuwait, we were certain that we were going to be killed in traffic, and when our tour bus stopped, it parked in a section which had a sign which clearly indicated that we shouldn't park there. The tour guide, who was Kuwaiti said that Kuwaitis don't obey traffic laws or parking laws and the roads are very, very dangerous.

That is why I am not surprised.

My son has worked and traveled in Nigeria, Angola, South Africa, Ghana, and Niger and he found total chaos in all of them in respect to driving and parking, so that is why I said it. Had you ever traveled there or known anything about the situation there, then you would have understood my comment.
