The Daily Beast:

In 2002, Wall Street Journal editors and Dow Jones officials chose to publicize Danny's kidnapping with interviews on Larry King Live and regular headline alerts on CNN.

Behind the scenes, some Pakistani investigators, FBI kidnapping specialists, and Wall Street Journal staffers didn't agree with the strategy, with one arguing: "Get Danny's face off TV!" ...

But media outlets learned from Danny's fate.

Wow, the propaganda surrounding this story is absolutely stunning! Allow me to puke on the faces of those perpetuating this myth.

#1, Daniel Pearl was held in IRAQ, which last time I checked, IS NOT AFGHANISTAN!!

#2, Daniel Pearl was being held by petty criminals, not a terror group or even a terrorist. Last time I checked, the Taliban is akin to a political party being that they were in power of a country, operating a government. They are also a religious movement. The Taliban is not, and has never been, labelled as a terrorist group. Stop confusing the Taliban and Al Qaeda. What's more, the Taliban are based out of Pakistan, our "staunch ally" which is completely filled with people whom our government says is our "friends and allies".

Stop spreading the propaganda NOW.

It's ironic that the media covered this up to "protect" the reporter but makes the exact opposite argument when it comes to the torture photos.

I know that journalists are courageous. BUT is it really necessary to always put their lives on the line or go into enemy territory? Are you really a hero for trying to get a story and then having your head removed from your body? Or going into questionable territory or near an enemy's border and being taken captive? Held for ransom or becoming an international problem? Please explain the difference "journalist hero" and "journalist addicted to high risk behavior". I am sorry that Daniel Pearl is no longer with us. He was a very good man. But did he think he was heading to a tea party the day he went to that meeting? Somebody put it into perspective. I don't think all these journalists have to meet their end or get taken by the enemy.
