Michael Miller

A disturbing story out of Arizona: a 29-year-old man has told police that he sang Eminem songs while fatally stabbing his wife and daughter, KSAZ-TV reports. His 4-year-old son survived the attack, despite being stabbed 11 times. According to police, the man, Michael Miller, said he was possessed and believed that his wife was a demon.

More chilling details:

Just before stabbing her at 4 a.m., he told police he started screaming lyrics from an Eminem song, saying, "Here comes Satan, I'm the anti-Christ, I'm going to kill you."

Miller admitted to police that when the kids awoke to their mother's screams, he stabbed them too. He said he stabbed his son Brian the most because he loved him the most.

Then he rolled a cigarette, said another prayer, and called 911, police say.

Hear part of the 911 call:

Does this inane bit of trivia really matter to anyone, anywhere?

I read on another site that the "lyrics" are not even close to an Eminem song. Granted, the anti-christ is mentioned in the song 'Underground':

"No, it can't be, it can't be, yes it can be, the f***in' antichrist is back and satan is in black panties"

I have never been a fan of Eminem's per-se, but this is bull. Mr. Miller is trying to work up an insanity plea. However, he failed a reasonable step in the process. He admitted that he rolled a cigarette afterwords (implying a casual assumption, end of action) and said a prayer. Lastly, he called 911. How does the old saying go? If you think you are crazy, you're not. Crazy would have sat down on the couch and watched some TV like nothing happened. A cognizant mind that realizes some modicum of guilt calls 911.
I just find it rather repugnant that an artist, I will refrain from calling Eminem a musician, is thrown under the bus because it sells better as tabloid headers than painting Mr. Miller as a religious lunatic. It would offend tremendously fewer people to put another black mark on Eminem's record, rather than point to the intelligent review of Mr. Miller's mental stability (he may not be insane, but he certainly is not sound of mind), and hammer on the painfully childish excuse of "the devil made me do it".

The comparisons with O'Reilly are completely bogus:

Even if those lyrics were part of Eminem song (which seems very doubtful) Eminem's lyrics do not relate to any specific person - Bill O. repeatedly denounced Dr Tiller personally and described him as a "killer"; he also said something to the effect that Dr Tiller was going to get what was coming to him.

Also, The lyrics quoted include the words "I'm the anti-Christ". Why would someone who identified with the anti-Christ want to kill someone they believed was possessed by a demon? - aren't the anti-Christ and demons supposedly on the same side?

How ever long that little lives, he will be haunted by this very tragic event. Let us hope the cycle of violence ends here for him. It is truly a miracle that we are still here 70,000 years later when its clear we have always been capable of this.

Sounds like a perfectly sane person setting up an insanity defense. Why else explain it all up front to the police. An insane person likely would not have remembered the details.

I would, too. But the legally sane do so. Sad fact. Maybe "perfectly" was poor word choice for "legally". Perfect sanity does not include violence.

He was obviously suffering from mental illness big time-schizophrenia for certain. Seems that those with this illness always have a God/satan thing going on. As a wise man once said, "Religion is the root cause of all mental illness." Take somebody biologically wired for a mental illness, add some religion into the mix, and you get disturbed, confused and suffering individuals who try eleviate their pan in ways that are horrifying.

Don't forget Andrea Yates. It was science and the pills that "scientists" created and prescribed her that would up creating the height of her delusion.

That is BS, She was mental her whole life and tried to kill her self twice BEFORE any drugs were involved. And the complaint was that the doctor did NOT continue a drug which appeared to be working. Blaming science for that one is ludicrous. (Not to say humans administering drugs is a perfect process.)

Whereas religion is delusional primitive thought control. No comparison.

Eminem promotes hatred of women in his songs,no different to Fox news promoting hatred of late term abortionists. To the person who states Eminem does not rap those words,I suggest you look up Eminem underground lyrics. He also promotes hatred of gays.Nothing nice about the man at all, well he does love his daughter, unlike the low life in this article.

You don't seem to understand the difference between targeting a group of people, versus targeting one single specific person.

Huge difference between making negative comments about women (a broad, general group, with no specific people being singled out) and making negative comments about one specific doctor. Billow made it his life's goal to specifically target ONE MAN, not an entire group of people.

There's no comparison.

Next time, if you want to compare the two, then use a specific woman (i.e. Kim, or his mom) that he targets, the way Billow targeted a specific man.

But then your case would fall flat, because none of Eminem's fans have attacked Kim or his mom. So really, there's no comparison at all, is there.

The Eminem aspect is a useless sidebar, a distraction. This made the news because there is no equivocation whatsoever in the pantheon of murderers and their victims, it is that shocking and vile.

"He said he stabbed his son Brian the most because he loved him the most.."

Lovely.

This man claimed that he was singing Eminem songs while stabbing his family. He even tells the police some of the lyrics that he was singing. There's just one little problem. The lyrics he said he was singing aren't part of any Eminem song. In fact, the only proof we have that he was singing any Eminem song at all is his say-so. All it takes is a minute to do a search on the internet and anybody could figure that out. But instead of checking the validity of those “lyrics”, pretty much every news outlet ran the sensationalist headline that some whackjob killed his family while singing Eminem songs.

This reminds me of the Judas Priest lawsuit from the late 80's. The one where parents tried to sue Judas Priest because two boys tried to commit suicide & the parents blamed it on the Heavy Metal music the boys listened to, specifically Judas Priest. It’s also similar to claims that violent video games drive kids to commit violent acts. These are all cop-outs. Somebody has decided to scapegoat video games, Heavy Metal music, or in this case Eminem, and try & convince the public that these are the reasons why these people have done these terrible things. In reality it comes down to personal accountability. This man stabbing his family has nothing to do with Eminem or his songs. This man obviously has issues & he’s looking for an insanity defense.

Life is a struggle between the primal urges and the highest moral archtype, which is a point in which Humanistic Psychologists and religous thelogions agree upon. Prayer can work just about as well as psychotherapy. Much of it has to do with the effort to reach the highest moral archtype the person can imagine or emulate.

Did anyone bother to check if this is accurate. To the best of my knowledge, that isn't an Eminem song. The closest one to those lyrics is "Underground" and even then it isn't really close.
