Michael Miller

A disturbing story out of Arizona: a 29-year-old man has told police that he sang Eminem songs while fatally stabbing his wife and daughter, KSAZ-TV reports. His 4-year-old son survived the attack, despite being stabbed 11 times. According to police, the man, Michael Miller, said he was possessed and believed that his wife was a demon.

More chilling details:

Just before stabbing her at 4 a.m., he told police he started screaming lyrics from an Eminem song, saying, "Here comes Satan, I'm the anti-Christ, I'm going to kill you."

Miller admitted to police that when the kids awoke to their mother's screams, he stabbed them too. He said he stabbed his son Brian the most because he loved him the most.

Then he rolled a cigarette, said another prayer, and called 911, police say.

Hear part of the 911 call:

And the blame for this goes to......... Eminem. Clearly. Not the guy who actually did the killings, but the guy who did the music the guy who did the killings listened to. Just like when the Beatles went to jail for life over the Manson Family killings.

So he sang an Eminem song. Big deal. The point is that he murdered his family.

This is what you get when you have repressive religious training at a young age and methamphetamines in young adulthood... or just meth at any age...

Why does it seem that whenever some person k.ills his family, it always comes out that they were "religious"?
Makes me wonder about religion more than anything else.

Don't wonder too hard. Ask yourself this: if we eliminated religion tomorrow, do you think murder would suddenly stop? Of course not. Look, this is human nature. Religion is used as an excuse sometimes, or maybe even a catalyst, but it's not the cause.

This man had a psychotic break. I've seen it happen - a coworker of mine one day just lost it. She didn't kill anyone, but she ruined her life. Some people have a genetic predisposition for it, if they have sufficient stimulus. It's sad for all involved. My coworker had two kids that she will probably only see a couple times a year for the rest of her life.

I'm not saying we should excuse what this man did - not not not NOT doing that. I'm just saying, let's maintain the proper perspective.

Religion isn't the cause? You think people blow themselves up in Israeli clubs because they don't like the music? Or that Dr. Tiller was killed because Scott Roeder didn't like his glasses?

No, these are religiously-motivated crimes. Religion is a huge problem... it's not the only one, but it need to go.

Sometimes people hide in religion...If you blame religion that's as crazy as blaming Eminem.

I think the headline for this story is wrong. It wasn't an Eminem song that the father was singing. I heard it was actually a Jonas Brothers song.

No, I heard the lyrics were from a Burl Ives song. About love, family, and Christmas.

**Reality ChecK**

We can't find those precise lyrics on any Eminem song. A searchable Web site for lyrics doesn't produce a match.

Hm, I doubt Eminem's lyrics had anything to do with it though.
This guy is plain nuts.

That settles it, once and for all, let's just outlaw families.

I hope for a future like that in "Children of Men". Humanity needs a serious break from itself.

Good step. Let's just outlaw public display's of religion and truly rid politics of religion. Then step back and see what happens.
