First Lady Michelle Obama plans to urge Americans to participate in a summer of service by volunteering their time and energy to help the needy.

The initiative, which is called United We Serve, will encourage ordinary people to work on projects that focus on improving the nation's schools, health care system and the environment, among other things.

Great! The first lady is taking her role as FLOTUS and impacting this country is ways we havent seen in decades. I cant wait to see her get involved with vet families as she said she would, (I am sure she will) I have a friends daughter (a sweet, intelligent and wonderful woman) who is a single mother in the AF, deployed 3 times to the desert, she could use some support right now, she joined the AF before 9/11. a true heroine.
