Perez Hilton Called Will.i.am A "F*gg*t" Pre-Fight

TORONTO — Police have charged the tour manager of the Black Eyed Peas with assault after he allegedly punched celebrity blogger Perez Hilton outside a Toronto nightclub. Hilton said he got into an argument with band members Fergie and will.i.am at the Cobra nightclub early Monday morning and was punched outside by Polo Molina, the band's tour manager. They were at the club following a Sunday night video awards show.

Molina turned himself in and has been charged with assaulting Hilton, Toronto Police Constable Tony Vella said. Molina is due in court Aug. 5.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, complained about the incident on the microblogging site Twitter. He tweeted at 4 a.m.: "I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke."

Hilton, who is openly gay, said in interview with The Associated Press that he called will.i.am a "faggot," a gay slur, inside the club after the musician told the blogger not to write about his band on his Web site.

"He was like 'You need to respect me.' He was in my face. He was obviously trying to intimidate me and scare me," Hilton said. "I was like 'I don't need to respect you. I don't respect you and I did say this, and I knew that it would be the worst thing I could possibly say to him because he was acting the way he was. I said 'You know what, I don't respect you and you're gay and stop being such a faggot.'"

Will.i.am said in a video posting on dipdive.com that he came to Hilton with respect and was called a "faggot."

Hilton, who was at the club with Lady Gaga, said he then left the club and was punched from behind. The pop stars and the blogger were among celebrities in Toronto for the MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday night.

A spokeswoman for the Black Eyed Peas declined comment.

I remember stories about the old gossip columnists in the golden age of Hollywood, people such as Hedda Hopper and ...uh...ot­her mean old b!tches. Anyhoo, they had most of the stars scared to death that there would be something negative in the columns, so these stars, who had all the TALENT, had to suck up to those old biddies.

Perez Hilton is probably trying to make peope like him. Doesn't seem to be working too well.

Yes, Hopper would summon stars to her home and sit with them as they trembled and Hopper asked them the most intimate questions. No wonder she was a communist baiter too. The gossip columist in the film "For The Boys" with Bette Midler was based on Hopper. In it, 'Hopper' has Midler's uncle fired because he's suspected of having once been a communist and Midler goes ape at a dinner reception and reads Hopper the riot act. (BTW, Midler's character is based on the life of Martha Raye.)

"Back in the old days" people weren't so nasty and rude because they knew that if they crossed a line they could get socked in the nose. Now we have the internet, where people can spew a constant stream of the most negative statements imaginable because they feel very safe in their anonymity.

Perez Hilton apparently deluded himself into thinking the world has become like the internet, where people "fight" back and forth to see who can be troll the other person the worst.

As you well-know, Washington repeated that comment publicly and arrogantly. Washington clearly knew his job was on the line; nobody made him use it or repeat it. Washington was responsible for his own firing. You also know that many organizations and people were upset by Washington's deliberate use of a public forum to offend.

Hilton is guilty of hypocrisy in using that insult. But surely you're not citing that in some retro-active campaign to exonerate Washington, are you? Because that's what it reads like.

I think she was pretty clear in what she was saying. Perez is a hypocrite for saying someone should be fired for calling their co-worker a gay slur and then using that same word to belittle someone.
