UPDATE 2: Perez and Will.i.am have both spoken out. Will denied it was him, while Hilton has a 12-minute video blasting the Black Eyed Pea as a "disgusting human being" and "a fucking liar."

He says the fight stemmed from his harsh posting about Fergie.

UPDATE: TMZ reports will.i.am is not the suspect:

But cops in Toronto tell us it was the general manager of the Black Eyed Peas -- Polo Molina -- who is under investigation and he turned himself in to police early this morning.

PREVIOUSLY:
Beginning just after midnight West Coast time, Perez Hilton tweeted a series of messages alleging that Will.I.Am and his security guards had assaulted him.

Hilton was in Toronto Sunday for the Much Music Awards:

-- I'm in shock. I need the police ASAP. Please come to the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel now. Please.

-- I was assaulted by Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke.

-- Still waiting for the police. The bleeding has stopped. I need to document this. Please, can the police come to the SoHo Met Hotel.

-- I spoke to my lawyer. I really need to talk to the authorities. Please come to the SoHo Met Hotel. Have called the police. Need them here.

-- The Toronto police are here now. Thank you. Please stop calling them.

The last message he posted on Twitter before this series of tweets came about two hours earlier: "Is there a gay bar that we can go to with GaGa now that like has a balcony or some place to have fun but be safe?"

It goes without saying that Hilton's claims have not been verified.

Perez has verbally assaulted so many women and young girls, and is at times breathtakingly cruel -- he is vicious and without mercy, or any shred of decency, remorse or common courtesy, I am SHOCKED it took this long for someone to react to him. I thought it would Bruce Willis would have done it by now, glad though it was someone sticking up for Fergie. That woman has taken more than her fair share of the crap and abuse this hypocritical bigot spews out. The fact that he's got a huge following says a lot about our ugly side.

Still, it still is his legal right (as vitriolic as his statements can be).

If a nasty comment warranted a beat down then most everybody would get an a$$.kicking.

I just find it creepy that he talks about a 16 year like Miley Cyrus' personal life the same way he would talk about Lindsey Lohan. This man calls babies ugly (Adam Sandler's daughter) and draws inappropriate pictures on them (Suri Cruise). I bet there is no one in Hollywood shedding a tear for this man. It is his legal right to speak but he should also expect that everyone might not like what he had to say and its also human nature to fight when one feels attacked. If this were not true we would live in a world with no w ar.

Somehow I don't think our forefathers would be happy about the way he uses his first amendment rights

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I don't see anything in there about the right to gossip about people online.

It's indeed disgusting that people on here are implying or outright stating that people (that means anyone) DESERVE an act of violence. That is exactly, let me emphasize, EXACTLY the rationale that all physical/spousal/child abusers, bullies and gay-bashers use. So whether you're making a weird 'karma' joke or you're an HuffPo Will.i.am defender, why so gleeful? You're basically saying Will.i.am's manager and the band itself have no other recourse against criticism than acts of violence. That's the definition of pathetic...and truly frightening from a band that makes a living off of songs advocating peace and love.

I agree AND I strongly disagree. Agree: no one deserves physical violence. ON THE OTHER HAND, you seem to disregard the FACT that PEREZ is a bully and a gay-basher. He has taken bullying to an "art" form. And he shows disrespect towards gay individuals who are not ready to be out in the open. And he shows disrespect towards individuals who are not gay who he wishes to ridicule, implying that they are.

I'm not disregarding Perez' bullying at all. I'm far from a fan, or a defender of Perez. I have often been disgusted by his double-standards. But I am trying to focus the 'argument' here. There is absolutely no doubt that people here, and clearly many people who think of themselves as 'liberal', are saying, very clearly, that a person either DESERVES, or shouldn't be surprised if they are assaulted. That 'they have it coming' to them; thay physical violence is 'understandable.' They are also playing into the weird undercurrent in SOME of the hip-hop community that retaliation through violence is not only justifiable, it should be celebrated. All of those are concessions to brutality. I agree with the poster below who asked: if a FEMALE gossip columnist, even a 'vicious' one, got punched, would people be so quick to joke and hurrah? That's the same double-standard you accuse Perez of employing. It's when people get smug about any violence...that's EXACTLY when we should all question.

I am posting under my name to say, I detest Perez, he has created a world of ugly, vicious hate and surrounded it with a thin layer of gossip. He feels that because people are in entertainment they are no longer human, they have no feelings, they don't love their children, they are targets and that he has the right to abuse, yes it's abuse folks, abuse them verbally and include their family, their children, their spouses. I stopped reading him long ago when he decided it was his right to out someone who was not ready to come out.
I am not a violent person, I believe in walking away from a fight but I also know that one can be pushed to do violent, foolish things by ugly words. This was a long time coming, I have zero sympathy for him.
Interesting thing is note how Perez has pushed his way into the world he hates, hanging with Lady gaga, dropping big names all over the place. Now all these people have access to you Perez, you are not behind the keyboard, talking ish. I would suggest you roll a little deeper and use caution when calling people names.
It's very unprofessional.

The judge that sat next to Hilton at the Miss America pageant said Hilton was visibly upset at the answer Carrie Prejean gave to all of America about gay marriage. She also said he spotted Hilton crying after the conclusion of the contest as he got out of his car heading in to the hotel he was staying.

Perez called him the F word. As a person who advocates for g ay rights he should be ashamed of himself. He said he used it to hurt his feelings. He should be ashamed of himself and he is no different then a straight man using the term to put down ga y community

When you consider what's going on in Iran right now, it's almost a crime to pay Hilton the time of day for this comment.
