It would be great if this meant that more New Yorkers were paying attention to politics and could go on to make more informed decisions come election day. Unfortunately, I just see something more akin to disaster overload. It is such a mess and no light has yet appeared at the end of the tunnel, that almost as a self defense mechanism people aren't looking too closely. Everyone seems to know it's broken but that's about it.

It's all about who has control of the money to rip the people off NY.

This is the State of New York.! It's supposed to be one of the most sophisticated states in the union. How did we wind up with legislative bodies stocked with mental cases?

We need to get rid of the bunch of them.

These people work for us. They are our employees. If you were running a business and your employees acted like this you'd fire their sorry backsides.

Let's recall or impeach them and start all over again.

The New York City political cess pool pollutes the entire state...it is a disgrace that the voters of New York tolerate the never ending Albany nonsense...we have only ourselves to blame

No, you're wrong. Your condition is NOT the fault of the Public. Every Election in the USA is being GAMED!! We're no better than Iran, for God's sake! It took the Bush/Cheney FRAUD to enlighten America to the ways and means of Getting Elected in America!! Quit blaming "Ourselves!"

NYS does need a change. Unfortunately I don't see anyone up to the challenge and I'm not even sure who to petition. Our gov is useless, our reps are locked in political battles and those who are ethical are undermined and thrown to the wolves. Politics needs a thorough cleansing here... I wonder if Cuomo would take this on or if he is just as dirty? We had Spitzer but... yeah well we know what happened to him.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!! (and this DOES NOT MEAN YOU GOLISANO)

What do you expect from a state with such fine traditions like Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall?

Such situations also discourage even more from voting and otherwise participate in Government, leaving it to only the richest or most connected peoplr who use those offices to rig the government to make them or their peers richrer. Until we break the current funding of methods of campagaining for public office, we will never be able to put in real citizens in office.

In other news, studies show 90% of NY residents have no idea what the state senate is, what it does, what powers it has, or where Albany is on a map.

Here in NY State the politics are so polluted in many towns or regions counties even, the Democrats are actually Republicans for real, I am not kidding, it's terrible such a great state has such corrupt unprofessional political leadership...

To say voters are angry is an understatement, they are angry but even worse just simply disgusted and resigned to bad inefficient government...

Hated what the GOP did. They basically told the voters where to go while taking $$$ from a billionaire who left NY so as not to pay taxes.

How unethical can you get?

Disgusted
NY GOP time to get rid of them all

43-YEARS of Republican control of New York State left us on Long Island NY with
the highest taxes, the highest utility rates, the highest overdevelopment,
the highest cost of living in America.

And now, Republicans want to finagle their way back into power?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! Voters voted them out and we don't want Republicans back
to enable their crookery all over again!

The financial excesses hidden under Repubican rule have somehow been forgotten - politicians with HUGE staffs and ridiculous expenses.... yet they claim now to represent 'reform' while using two corrupt and about to be charged 'Democrats'......

Too many NY politicians are on the gravy train for thier own benefit.... a local op-ed piece exoriated a local pol for all the 'grants' - eg PORK - he provided - a payoff of sorts and a poor one at that. We're overtaxed but bnribed by small amounts going back locally for pet causes that are unneeded and unnecessary. One local community got a state grant for a new ROWING club shed..... Sorry, if you want your kids to row crew to get into Ivies, PAY FOR YOUR OWN DAMN rowing shed.... the local Head Start now serves 1/3 the kids they served 10 years ago. THAT is a place that NEEDS funding. And while 9/11 was a tregedy you don't NEED state funding for a memorial in EVERY community that lost someone. Want a fitting 'memorial', fund a scholarship for a needy kid who otherwise couldn;t afford college... pay for a child care center.... you DON';T need another carved piece of overpriced marble in a park

Lots of luck unseating incumbents...... some of these guys have been in NY State politics all their lives....... and when they finally are out of electedoffice they get taken care of in nicely paid state positions on things like the Canal Commission....

Upstate pols are notorious for delivering the pork while shafting places like NYC. Notice how all the prisons in NYS are far far away from where the inmates come from? Jobs programs for poor upstate counties that don't have any jobs. NIce new prisons, schools and local government buildings - while NYC falls farther and farther behind...... Look at Joe Bruno and what he got away with for decades - and meanwhile Rensselaer County is STILL an economic disaster despite Hudson Valley Commuity College, Joe Bruno stadium and all else..

Voters are weird. They'll see the problem, but won't acknowledge that their representative is a problem. It's always the other guys.
