I Like ItI Don’t Like It

In an interview with Fox Business scheduled to air tonight, Claudine de la Villehuchet, the widow of French investor Rene‐Thierry Magon De La Villehuchet, blamed Bernard Madoff for her husband's suicide. "He killed my husband," she said to Fox Business. Mr. de la Villehuchet committed suicide in December after he lost more than $1 billion of his client's money in the Madoff scandal.

In her first interview since her husband's death, Claudine de la Villehuchet called Madoff "a murderer," and also mentioned that she didn't believe Ruth Madoff had any knowledge of her husband's misdeeds. de la Villehuchet's family has lost their entire savings, and Claudine now faces the possibility of losing her home, according to Fox Business.

and also what about all these billionaires crying and whining.
people in the world are hurting. millions have been thrown into poverty across the world because of this financial crisis. many of them will suffer and/or die.
how many US banks/corporations and/or their execs have been investigated/prosecuted for this? just a few token people. and Madoff, but only because he robbed from the rich.

how many people will suffer for the greed of the few. most are already wealthy beyond belief. but millions have been laid off, lost their homes, and lives, and never mind the countless others suffering. and yet most of them did well. even those who did get fired like the AIG FP still made in excess of 250,000 for a few years before this hit. and a lot of them got richer with the bailouts.
and somehow a few hundred dollars a month could help so many people getting by month to month.

how sick are these people and the world they created?

I'm sorry but I'm don't feel sorry for these people one bit.
This guy took the easy way out, instead of having to face people, whose money he threw away.
What the hell was he thinking? When did put your eggs in one basket seem like a good idea. Investment portfolios are supposed to spread risk, right? And this guy just tossed it all in there.

And what about due diligence? Shouldn't he as a serious financial expert have seen through the Madoff scandal. This guy was an expert. And what about all the experts in the US, including feeder funds, that didn't see Madoff's scam for what it was? Didn't they even care? It doesn't look like it. The money was good, and greed blinded them.

Everybody was scammed. The SEC, hedge funds, feeder funds, and numerous other "experts". Mind you there were a few hedge funds and investment places that refused to invest with Madoff. But they didn't say anything. Not one word. The biggest crook in history, and these others said nothing. Even without proof, shouldn't a decent human being raise some caution and suggest it.

You know waht really gets me? Most of these investors were gazilionaires and yet they put all of their eggs in one basket. The only explantion is greed. i cannot imagine being 80 years old and thinging 80 million wasn't enough. I have very little sympathy for these people. Greed is one of the 7 dea dly si ns for a good reason.

Or typos? Anyway, luvobama is right. Cupiditas radix malorum: the love of money is the root of all evil. What else is new? The New York and Palm Beach crowd--not to mention their fellow Madoff hogs from coast to coast and abroad--got exactly what they deserved. There's a reason the Book of Exodus condemns the tendency to worship the Golden Calf instead of the virtues represented by the Ten Commandments. The Old Testament is simply one long tale of the Ancient Israelites corrupting themselves OVER AND OVER with greed, for which they are harshly punished by their God every single time, including sending them into exile in Babylon. When will they ever learn in New York, Palm Beach, Beverly Hills, etc.?

The people we should be shedding our tears for are the literally billions of human beings worldwide whose lives have been ruined, often to the point of starvation before this worldwide Depression is over, by the shameless greed of the Wall St. investment banks which caused more human suffering than any other institutions in human history which were not in the business of state-sponsored Inquisitions, Holocausts, Gulags, Cultural Revolutions, Great Leap Forwards, etc. Never in human history has such a small number of greedy, nongovernmental "geniuses" harmed so many human beings so badly. If there's a just God, these clowns will someday, somehow, get theirs.

This guy may have been a greedy mofo, but this still illustrates a vital point: the actions of the Royalty (corps and very rich) can, and do, cause death. These people steal, gamble with and lose other peoples' money. This is usually beyond the control of those who lose the money. A pension fund manager can destroy the income of the pensioners. A CEO, controlled by the Royalty, can destroy lives by laying off people to increase the Royals' wealth. A person who loses her livelihood can also lose her health care, her house and other essentials of day-to-day life. All to make the rich richer. Taking away a person's livelihood for profit is no different than going into their house and robbing it.
The SOBs who caused the current financial crisis have done far more economic damage than UBL did. And, possibly, more lives around the world.
And they still try to keep their bonuses. If only they were truly performance based. I'd like to see one of these experts take a 1% bonus of the profits: 1% of a $1B loss should mean they lose $10M.

These pigs are dangerous and cause great harm to people and should be made to pay for their crimes (against humanity.)
Don't put 'em in jail, tho... just make 'em work at minimum wage until they've paid everyone back.

I'm for capitalism, but not when it causes so much harm.

I love the idea of making them work at minimum wage until the money's paid back. Not that it would even be possible, mind you. But the concept is most satisfying.

They were all too greedy. And they got paid back for that. Handsomely.

If the truth were being reported we'd be having riots in the streets. And meanwhile the top execs in banks and brokeragesa that caused such a mess are STILL employed and making millions while laying off THOUSANDS of people that actually do work. If you know anyone in banking that's still employed, odds are they are doing the work of three people so the top execs can show 'savings' and contineu collecting mega-incomes.

No, Ma'am..greed killed your husband. Though Madoff broke the law, but he did not put a gun to your husband's or other people's heads for their money; they gave it to him.
