Snoop And Buzz

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin recently recorded a song, "Rocket Experience," to commemorate the 40th anniversary of his moon walk and to help benefit various organizations dedicated to space exploration. Funny or Die decided to get in on this action by providing rappers to sit in on Aldrin's sessions and critique his work and impact on the rap world.

Unbeknownst to us, Talib Kweli's group Black Star was named after Buzz's research at MIT and Soulja Boy's entire career is dedicated to Aldrin! While these two statements were probably untrue, Snoop Dogg does do a lovely rap dedicated to the space icon at the end of the "making of" video which you can see here, scroll down for the full song.

I had no idea Buzz was a OG. He straight knocked that man out, and had every right to! I wonder if he knows how to handle a Tec-9.

A true Hero......it is a day I will remember forever...... both the first and second people on the moon....including his long dialogue returning back to the earth.

I love this! He really is the rocket man. A great American hero, and he's got soul.

Buzz Aldrin: The man who has spent the last 40 years making sure people know he was * the other guy * at the Moon with Neil Armstrong.

I've spent some time with him. He's still bitter about being the second guy, true. On the other hand, he's done a lot to promote space exploration, he's accessible, he's always out there talking about why going into space is important for humanity.

All in all, I have to give him more credit than Neil for moving us forward.

Aside from being the 2nd man on the moon, aside from his MIT PhD in mechanical engineering, Aldrin was the guy who figured out how use tools in microgravity. Before him, no one could figure out how to handle the torque involved.

That said, he sure has a mean right jab.
