I have great respect for Christiane Amanpour, she's the only person on CNN I really trust, and I always stop and listen when she is on the air. And I like her voice and accent.

If Ms. Amanpour is interested in the world's great news stories, she picked the wrong profession. Journalism is about trying to catch the president smoking, while Iran burns. With regard to Iran, journalism is making the snap! gesture over a McCain sound bite critical of his former opponent the President's deliberative style. Journalism is wanting to know every detail about the President's dog Bo, or keeping us up to the second on Jon and Kate. The stuff we now call journalism used to be called gossip columns. Journalism is a shameful and degrading profession.

Not to mention having a "Democratic Strategist" and "Republican Strategist" discuss the political repercussions of the above in detail to fill the time. What ever happened to the day when news was about handing off to an extremely well informed journalist on the scene? It happens so rarely now, especially on cable.

Cable pundit shows are not only worthless, they're harmful. I don't understand why people watch. The networks are no better. Check out the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. After commercials, Williams has about 20 minutes to report the news of the day. Instead, he kills time with a weather report, a viewer poll or two, a Jon and Kate update, a feel-good story of the day, a Dateline promotion disguised as a news story, something about the President's ears, and an occasional Tim Russert tribute.

So she was part of the upper class under the Shah
So its not surprising that she was motivated by the Iranian Revolution which toppled much of of aristocracy of Iran

Not exactly the first place I'd look for unbiased coverage of Iran, although there are many worse than her

Absolutely--honest, well-informed and courageous reporting. There really is so little of it these days. Far too much time is spent reporting what some half-witted, washed up Senator said, and then analyzing and discussing what the other cable channels are saying about what he said. Pathetic.

Last year her report on God's Warriors had me glued to CNN. Those shows on the various religions changed my views (with Facts no less) without forcing her own opinions on me. She is outstanding. She is the best.
CNN should rerun them.

Thank you Christiane.

Christiane Amanpour should help us point out that the same people who ramped up Bush to go to war are now trying to push Pres Obama to attack Iran.

Well, I have a very serious complaint regarding Ms. Amanpour; she isn't on TV enough.

Also, it is interesting to reflect how very impressive this Iranian woman is. We should all think about that, when our stereotypes tend to take over from our common sense. Here in South Cal, there is a huge Iranian ex-pat community, and I personally am very impressed with them. These are some very highly educated, moral individuals, who more often than not stand in stark contrast with most of the native-born Americans I know.

My regard for the Iranian Americans who I know makes me very upset with the 'Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran' mentality of so many people in this country.

Thank you! There is also a very large Iranian ex-pat community in Texas and find Persians to be gracious, hospitable and kind.

Christiane Amanpour is the very epitome of a fine journalist. No one else, represents the trade of news journalism with such distinction.

I agree opine2u. Old school boots on the ground journalists like Christiane Amanpour are slowing the mainstream media slide into irrelevance. The pity of Ms. Amanpour is that there is no way in he ll she'd be hired by the bigtime media today.

I remember when Christiana was apprehensive About reporting from there for us. She needs an ambassador medal og Honor, and yet she should be re=evaluated, because I am afraid she might
use the national treasure to abuse us. i DON'T TRUST HER YET. JjUST MY OPINION JMO @WHY THE VEILS STILL? Something in the beginning she was against. They brainwash you good there.
Thank God if so she sees the npositive, which I believe is why the veils started coming down.

Iran has always had a Jewish population living in it's borders. They still consider themselves Iranian. The Jews were welcomed in Iran even under Islam.

Is she jewish?
Her name is Christiane after all. Not many jews I know would name their kid that

It seems fairly obvious that she is a christian of Iranian descent. There are many of them
