Obama

Godwin's Law proves itself again! This time from a reportedly prominent GOP group in Maryland, the Republican Women of Anne Arundel County (as ThinkProgress reported today). On their website, they've published a letter from their president addressing Obama's alleged Health Care agenda, and equating the President with Hitler.

The Letter begins:

Dear Friends:

Obama and Hitler have a great deal in common in my view. Obama and Hitler use the "blitzkrieg" method to overwhelm their enemies. FAST, CARPET BOMBING intent on destruction. Hitler's blitzkrieg bombing destroyed many European cities - quickly and effectively. Obama is systematically destroying the American economy and with it AMERICA. First the banking/investment industry, next private enterprise (GM and Chrysler) and now HEALTH CARE.

We too CAN fight back. Contact everyone you know. Start a blitzkrieg of our own. Shut down the Capitol switchboards and the White House switchboards! Say NO to the Obamination of Obama Care!

Try to imagine how the conservative media (the "liberal" media is a myth) would have reacted if anyone had dared to compare Bush with Hitler.

Actually it's the GOP who have employed Goebel's tactics: they've created a group -liberals -and proceeded to blame said group for all of the problems with our society. Then proceeded to make that group socially dead -outcasts and enemies of the state -so people become apathetic to what happens to them. They use fear and smear tactics while accusing the victims of the very tactics they're using. And let's not forget their love of torture.

They have a great deal in common... because they both DO things. Gasp.

Ooh, don't forget that they both have 2 eyes, wear shoes, and come from white mothers. Very suspect indeed.

But they both have cult-like followers who absolutely defend and rejoice in everything the leader does and want to silence and ridicule dissenters. The comment posts on HuffPo prove that. There was one who said that criticizing the president and/or his family should be against the law. Scary stuff.

Obama's followers don't express those kinds of illogical sentiments and have not calld for any violence on their opponents. In fact, we are a pretty upbeat bunch, looking forward to better times for everyone once the mess left over by others is cleaned up. If negative things are expressed it is usually in response to some kind of outrageous attack.

As an Obama supporter, the only thing that I believe SHOULD be silenced are calls to violence by and against ANYONE and expressions of senseless hate by and against ANYONE. And the only ones being ridiculed are those who persist in expressing stupidity even when their stupidity has been repeatedly demonstrated and and/or who insist on staying in the limelight even after proving that they do not measure up and are embarrasments to their supporters.

Think about that.

I don't know of anyone trying to silence Obama's critics. In fact they seem to get far more airtime than his supporters.

Here's their website: http://www.rwaac.com/

A bunch of stingy rich white women. Here's a sample of the craziness posted on their site:

"I don’t know about you, but I’m SICK AND TIRED OF THE LIBERAL MASS MEDIA TELLING US THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS FINISHED!

I’m PROUD TO BE A REPUBLICAN! Our Party doesn’t bow low to the monarch of a nation that would cheerfully ELIMINATE us as a nation! Our Party doesn’t apologize for our nation while visiting foreign countries – many of whom hate everything about the United States – EXCEPT OUR FOREIGN AID AND MONEY! "

Somebody failed these people a long time ago. Their ignorance didn’t just come about overnight. It was result of a national dumbing down that was systematic.

It is GROSS how the GOP condemns any plan to take healthcare out of the stranglehold the Insurance Industry has on all Americans. If you think you have good health insurance you haven't used it lately.

The Insurance Industry tells doctors what they will and will not cover. Now an anesthesiologist is paid out of pocket, like that is an elective to be knocked out during any procedure. Try getting a colonoscopy or an epidural through scar tissue without anesthesia. Now I have a doctors office calling asking me to plead with my insurance company to get them paid. Insurance OK'd it, but now won't pay.

It's strange how a surgery for me costs $78,000 but when my insurance is billed they only pay 24,000. Why would a surgery cost that much less for an insurance company but for someone without, they pay over triple? Why on earth is this even an issue? The Insurance Industry has become God with who will get care and who won't. What is wrong with this picture people?

Um, that's completely offensive! Are the republicans seriously unaware that what they do is offensive or is it that they think they can just get away with it?

Don't these people realize when the put Obama and the banking industry in the same sentence they lose all validity? Yes, President Obama voted for the TARP bill but that bill was so heavily promoted by Bush (some say he threatened marshall law if the bill wasn't passed) and over half the money was out the door before President Obama was sworn in without so much as an explanation from Paulson. The remaining money did count against Obama's deficit but is that his fault? Then they compare Obama to Hitler?

Yes Hitler's doctors performed gastly surgeries on helpless victims - often twins; eugenecists had great interest in twins - in order to learn how to bread the master race and Obama wants all Americans to be cared for. That makes (sarcasm) perfect sense.

Sent this to the sisters in Annapolis:
I would put it to you, "Have you no shame?", but you apparently do not, so let it stand as a rhetorical question.
On one level, however, I encourage you to continue representing the GOP for the desperate and irrelevant organization it is. Keep up the good work.
Frankly, the "shock and awe" invasion of Iraq instigated by GWB/Cheney and their corporatist clique has more in common with blitzkreig. To refute any more of your points with historical fact or reason is a waste of time.
Thanks for helping to keep Maryland "Blue."

you have no clue what treason even is:

Definition of Treason:

The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offense is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

It was all shut down by the previous Administration. Perhaps they liked it that way. Things were working only for those very well fixed. These people are sick. They have spent so much time in the wilderness, they no longer know how to think. They are my greatest fear for this country.
