A new group calling itself Healthy Americans Against Reforming Medicine (HAARM) has launched a website to promote its efforts to derail health care reform. Their message: Health care for everybody is just bad and wrong, and the Obama administration's plan will lead to socialism.

HAARM, you may or may not have guessed, is a work of satire. The Service Employees International Union is putting $25,000 behind the project, which essentially parrots right-wing talking points on health care reform to comedic effect.

"We worked with some really funny writers on this project, but nobody was able to top the crazy things Republicans are saying to stand in the way of health care reform," said SEIU spokeswoman Lori Lodes in a statement to the Huffington Post. "HAARM highlights the fact that the GOP spends more time coming up with ways to say 'no' than they do coming up with any policies of their own."

In a video featured on the site, HAARM officials debate their strategy in a brainstorming session.

"We have got to figure out a way to convince the American people that health care is a bad thing," says one man.

"Why don't we just say it like it's a bad thing?"

The video then cuts to Rep. Zack Wamp (R-Tenn.) on MSNBC. "The problem with the Obama approach is, it's health care for everybody!"

These HAARM people have me concerned. Socialized medicine? Who knows what we'll have next? Socialized police? Socialized fire departments? A military run by the government, instead of hiring Halliburton and Blackwater as private mercenary forces, patrolling the world? Next thing you know, they'll wanna' socialize the libraries and the post offices and maybe even the courts. Thank heaven we have strong Republican leaders like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck to protect us.

The easiest solution is to give all Americans the same program in insurance and medical benefits as the Congress has. It must be good. After all, the politicians never complain about their coverage. Except they can go to Bethesda Naval or Walter Reed which is not available to everyone else. Republicans. Who needs them ? Bankers, credit card lenders, insurance company CEO's, pharmaceutical CFO's
and of course the "Swift Boaters " wherever they are. Thats who need them.

Once again I ask... what are the Reps offering as an alternative to a public option that will get the 35+ million uninsured insured? Seems all they do is complain about how this or that won't work.

What are their solutions to this problem? Or do they not even see millions of uninsured as a problem?

Seriously.

The Repugs don't see the millions of uninsured as a problem. They don't care about them.

Health care for EVERYBODY???..O M G we can't have THAT!!. Next thing you know, people will be getting stuff like cancer on purpose just to milk the system. Sure, heart attacks and strokes are great fun, but should we, the taxpayers of America, have to pay for them? I don't think so! And how about dismemberments? Who needs four GOOD working limbs anyway...money spent on prosthetics and rehabilitation is just money wasted. No sir! sick people are just a drain on the economy. Especially the elderly who are going to die soon anyway, why bother. We could use that money better to build more nukes and help out more banks and big corporations that are TRULY deserving. Those guys on Wall Street have gotten a really bad rap lately over nothing, they deserve some cheering up!.Besides, what about what will happen to our friends, the health insurance industry. They have been good to us in our hours of need, they deserve better than this. Health insurance for everyone is just not fair to good, decent Americans..especially those who aren't even sick.
(For those who aren't intelligent enough to figure this out, this is satire, please don't e mail me with threats)

It's a conserv myth and an outright lie that public health care would result in rationing.

Leo, I know you think that if you repeat this nonsense often enough, the ill-informed and the ignorant will believe it, but if you truly have the courage to express your opinions so strongly, why not offer proof in the absence of nonsensical claims? If your argument is valid, it will stand on its own. And if not, no amount of propaganda will matter.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Have you heard the one about the cancer patient who died waiting to be approved by government health care for treatment because it was rationed under national health care. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Have you heard the one about the 37 million people who still won't be covered under national health care even though most of them thought they would. Ha! Ha! Ha! The Prez just cracks me up when he says, "everyone deserves to have healthcare." Get it, "deserves" but not "will get" Ha! Ha! Ha!

So we should just lay down & surrender to the status quo? That "haha" is exactly what you will hear from the insurance industry fat cats if we back down & they win, again. We can't succeed if we don't try.

I think it is great that doctors, nurses, hospitals, therapists, drug companies, nursing homes and medical suppliers make a profit on health care. They contribute a lot - give care, innovate, make discoveries and help keep many people both healthy and living longer. Insurance Companies, on the other hand, contribute absolutely not one thing of value regarding health care. Nothing. In fact, they drain off about 10% of the entire amount spent on health care a year - for doing nothing but being obstructionists - denying care to those who need it. They take people's premiums, then give them the boot when they get sick and may cost these pukes some of their not-earned money. If they wind up losing market share, so what? They have nothing, absolutely nothing to do with health care. Somehow they have managed to insinuate themselves into becoming a middle man, and that needs to change. Period. No and, if or buts about it. If you CHOOSE to spend 20% more for insurance coverage, no problem, feel free, go for it. But do NOT impede my choices. I want a non-profit Public Plan. I want it. Why can I not have it? Why? I am willing to pay the premiums needed so that it is revenue neutral.
