Wallaby

In what sounds like a gardening idea from children's book, people in Britain are using wallabies to maintain their lawns.

As the "Telegraph" reports:

"Private orders for the marsupials, which are native to Australia and New Zealand, have jumped in recent years as landowners seek new ways of keeping their grass neat."

According to the video below, the mini-kangaroos aren't cheap (they can cost upwards of $1,000), but do the work of two gardeners each and don't require any care except water. If you have a large property, they might save you time and money in the long run. And they're so cute!

My neighbors have two wallabies (as well as burros, horses, llamas, pot-bellied pigs and pygmy goats). They aren't animals that can be turned loose in an unfenced yard or field because they spook easily.

They look like giant rats. Interesting story, though.

Yeah, let's take these animals out of the wild and use them to tend our lawns! Brilliant!

Take a stroll through my beautifully maintained yard!

But look out for wallaby droppings.

Wallabies are NOT native to New Zealand.

You're right. Wallabies are just as Aussie as Kangaroos.

I've watched this 3 times now -- I can't get enough of the sound effects... BOING BOING!

It's not a sound effect. It's an Australian aborigenal instrument called didgeridoo.

But it was used as sound for an event which did not originally produce that sound...so it's a sound effect.

And...I was actually talking about the "BOING BOING" sound they added every time one of them jumped.

That's where "skippy" beats the Victa lawnmower hands down, it mows and fertilises the turf at the same time, besides the boing boing sound they make is way better than the noise of the fourstroke, I've even managed to teach mine to play didge, the haunting sound scares the crap out of the Jehovah Witness doorknockers!!!

Anyone shocked or amazed by this doesn't know anything about why we our lawns look the way they do today. Here's your clue: aristocrats and sheep.
